@romlib_ One of the dangerous trends is that we are trending towards less on-the-job training. That's why jobs almost always require prior experience now. It makes sense why this is happening, but it's a big problem for any big disruptions in the labor market.

@suzamaroo They're not facing real backlash. Anyone who's informed enough to hear about the reveal already knew all of this, but their targets are the ones who aren't.

We all knew MAGA influencers were grifters, pushing the same “fake news” narratives for money but it’s starting to unravel just like the movement. MAGA is dying.

since it's pretty close to tax day i'd just like to remind everybody that a few years ago the IRS was able to secure funding for a free tax filing service and was ready to release it nationwide until Donald Trump cancelled the program for literally no reason

@karamballes With Orban out of office, hopefully this era of global far right lunacy can come to a close.

Epstein and Thiel had Bannon working closely with Orban to build their network. Crypto was important for moving money around the network and Orban and other political allies sought to undermine efforts to regulate crypto And Farage has gone all in on crypto, what a coincidence

@racheljanfaza I'm curious how many of the people who voted Trump and are breaking with him are 1) just antisemitic, 2) think everything he ran on was good, but are mad he didn't deliver, or 3) think he didn't go far enough. None of those 3 groups are good news.

Obviously i want to see more manufacturing come back to the US, this would for sure take time to build on, but breaking the stranglehold China had on our manufacturing had been talked about for years, other countries benefiting from us moving away from China was always going to happen.

One year on from "Liberation Day," Trump’s tariffs have altered supply chains — just not in the way he envisioned. A Bloomberg analysis of shipment-level customs data shows a shift in manufacturing toward Vietnam, with the country last year surpassing China as the leading supplier to the US of laptops and game consoles for the first time:

@Paul_provalone @unusual_whales You won't see me defending Reagan, but this particular metric is influenced more by NIMBYs than anything else. This chart looks more like a reflection of housing affordability than anything.

@HotFudgePandae @tacowasa2nd The right wing only requires loyalty to Trump. That's why you see figures like Tulsi Gabbard succeed. It does lead to a diverse coalition, but in practice, it's pointless, since Trump dictates everything to them anyway.

@tacowasa2nd It's simpler than that; rightwing thought is more tribal focused. Not saying that's wrong, it's just that when you extend considerations beyond notions of "your people" like the left does, you start to agree on more general rules than if you prioritize your ethnicity and culture.

@tacowasa2nd One of the interesting and under-reported findings of this study was that those on the center-right were more likely to adopt far-right positions than they were even moderate left-wing positions.

@AmanitaFugax People like tariffs for the rhetoric of "building it here." They haven't cognitively linked the consequences of tariffs to that rhetoric. Unless they've paid for something that was explicitly listed as a tariff, and not a "greedy company passing the cost onto them," they like it.

@Celiksei @alxfazio Windows is fine for most .NET projects. Tons of legacy projects are still on .NET framework which requires Windows in the first place.

@charise_lee There was a study I was reading about how these AI models work best when they think they can see but actually can't. I'm probably misrepresenting it, but they don't even look at the image data, but they think they are, so they need to think they can see it.

These are the Twitter/X accounts with the most engagement so far in 2026. I suppose I had some intuition for how bad it was, but jeez, this is what you get when the ecosystem is broken.

@KyleWhitak46637 @J3ffMiller @NateSilver538 @Bassaces1 He's moderate. Left are completely out of whack with everyone. Left actually still think it's "left v right". It's not. If you identify with what we call our current "left" there's no matching opposite demographic. You're not fighting the right. You're fighting Americans.

@brains_rid Large states are disadvantaged on a national scale due to the Electoral College and Senate. You'd only get 2 senators despite being the largest state. You'd get less votes than you'd think in presidential elections because some of your votes would be distributed to smaller states
