@Mike_McD5511 No one ever said the AK never jammed… just that it was easier to maintain. The AR’s tight tolerances make maintaining it much harder without specialized equipment. While AK’s required much less care.

@AAKing27 @WarInstitute This isn't true though. They might touch a radio for EIB and eventually learn how to use one as a squad leader or maybe team leader but not all of them are getting trained as RTOs.

@ByronBiDisaster The reason is to do a really shitty variant of the Rebel Alliance fleet troopers/Alderaanian security and it fails at that because other than the helmet looking vaguely similar the jumpsuit with no other equipment ruins the silhouette.

@EzhmaarSul @_spaceracist Bel Iblis’ problem with Mon was personality based, not ideological. They still fought as their own force because they still believed in the Alliance to *Restore* the Republic.

@_spaceracist Is it your impression that Virginia, the home of Washington and Jefferson and basically every elite worth a damn in the Thirteen Colonies... Was peripheral? (Headcanon is the Alderaan Volunteers accept Separatists after their home planet gets blown up because fuck it.)

@C0untryDick @Igi_POLCOM Airborne units took their assault objectives during Husky and Market Garden was within the realm of possibility. And this still discounts the dozens of successful airborne operations. You people who say shit like this also never bring up stuff like Vyazma or the Dnieper.

IGI ?🇵🇱? ¿🇮🇩¿ ‽🇬🇱‽
Paratroopers must be thankful to D-Day because all of their other most famous operations from Crete to Market Garden and now Kyiv are just getting them killed and being relegated to front line duty as somewhat more equipped shock troopers. Unimaginable aura loss formation.

The Fallschirmjäger's most successful airborne deployment during the war involved monstrous swathes dying to static anti-aircraft fire, and a not-insignificant portion getting beaten to death by Greek dirt farmers with agricultural tools in broad daylight after landing

@abulebube123 @Igi_POLCOM This isn't a yes or no thing. Of course airborne operations will have more casualties because its insanely more risky than most offensive operations. Like I said, the key factor of determining whether or not its worth it is if that risk can be mitigated enough.

The first 3 days of the Ukrainian offensive into Kursk oblast, Case study. I should mention the study is free for anyone on my Substacks and nobody has been asked to give money to me. There are more details about it in the Thread🧵 lovelylad.substack.com/p/the-ukrainia…

@abulebube123 @Igi_POLCOM That's a completely nothing statement. So will literally any force if the conditions have not been set for their success or there's undue amounts of risk that can't somehow be mitigated.

@kcin117 @Igi_POLCOM Im not saying paratroopers or airmobile infantry is useless, but that they will suffer extremely bad casualties against anything resembling a near peer force.

@abulebube123 @Igi_POLCOM This sounds smart if you're an idiot and ignore what the capability the provide and the inherent risk associated with vertical envelopment (or literally any offensive operation).

@Igi_POLCOM Paratroopers are a good way of turning your elite light infantry into POWs unless nearly every detail goes right. Even during D-Day paratroopers suffered atrocious losses compared to other units.

@Turbofurby I’d respect that guys opinion more if the KOTOR Republic Army didn’t look like dogshit. Even as far as a riff on the Alliance fleet troopers it’s bad.

The December 2024 assault near Lyptsi by the Khartia Brigade was an impressive operation, but only the first stage was unmanned. On the first day, Khartia employed UGVs and UAVs to inflict casualties (mostly caused by Mavic drops) on Russian forces to set conditions for an assault. The second day involved a company-size mechanized assault with infantry who dismounted from BMP-1TS and M113 APCs. Drones did not seize or hold terrain, infantry did. youtube.com/watch?v=Ql47h1…

A British drone industry would not be a cost. It would be a renaissance. British kit, designed here, built here, used by our forces and sold to our allies. War has already changed. Britain needs to as well. dailymail.com/debate/article…
