छपरा रेप कांड को लेकर स्थानीय लोगों में पुलिस प्रशासन के प्रति भारी आक्रोश और नाराज़गी देखने को मिल रही है। लोगों का आरोप है कि समय पर सख्त कार्रवाई और गंभीरता दिखाई जाती तो शायद हालात इतने भयावह नहीं होते। इलाके में जगह-जगह पुलिस की कार्यशैली पर सवाल उठ रहे हैं और लोग पीड़ित परिवार को जल्द से जल्द न्याय दिलाने की मांग कर रहे हैं। स्थानीय लोगों का कहना है कि इस मामले में लापरवाही बरतने वाले अधिकारियों की जवाबदेही तय होनी चाहिए, तभी जनता का भरोसा पुलिस और प्रशासन पर वापस आ पाएगा।
