President Zelenskyy presented state awards to Ukrainian and foreign media professionals on the occasion of Journalist’s Day. The Order of Merit, III class, was awarded to: Nataliya Gumenyuk @ngumenyuk, Natalia Husak, Kostiantyn Doroshenko, Igor Kazanzhy, Andrew Kravchenko @kravchenkofoto, Oleksandr Nazarenko, Robert Opalenik, Pavlo Pavlov, Andriy Pochtiev, Liubov Rudia, Yegor Terletskyi, Sergiy Tomilenko @Stommedia, and Oleksandr Khimich. The Order of Princess Olga, II class, was awarded to Yuliia Kyriienko-Merinova. The Order of Princess Olga, III class, was awarded to: Ella Bilostotska, Olena Blizniakova, Victoria Butenko, Kseniia Vasylenko, Olga Dunska, Nelly Kovalska, Daryna Krasnolutska @DarynaKrasno, Kateryna Lisunova @KaterynaLis, Ghanna Mamonova, Karina Piliuhina @karinapiliuhina, Valerie Proshchenko @lproschenko, Elvina Seitbullaeva @seitbullaieva, Sofiia Troshchuk, and Gulsum Khalilova @KhalilovaGulsum. The Order of Merit, III class, was also awarded to foreign journalists: Zarina Zabrisky @ZarinaZabrisky, Ibrahim Naber @IbraNaber, Caolan Patrick Robertson @CaolanReports, and Stephane Siohan @stefsiohan. The President conferred the honorary title Merited Journalist of Ukraine on Oleg Borysov, Natalia Bratushka, Ihor Darmostuk, and Serhii Cherevatyi. Τοday the Cyprus Presidency initiated the preparation for the formal opening of Cluster one in the accession negotiations of Ukraine and Moldova. This marks a significant milestone in their European integration path, and sends a strong message of EU unity and determination. In the coming days, we will continue working dedicately towards finalizing the discussions in the Council for the formal opening of the cluster. The Cyprus Presidency, guided by the merit-based approach, is delivering on enlargement, which is a strategic priority and one of the European Union’s most transformative policies.

Today in Budapest, Hungarian authorities took seven Ukrainian citizens hostage. The reasons are still unknown, as well as their current well-being, or the possibility of contacting them. These seven Ukrainians are employees of state-owned Oschadbank, who were operating two bank cars transiting between Austria and Ukraine and carrying cash as part of regular services between state banks. In fact, we are talking about Hungary taking hostages and stealing money. If this is the “force” announced earlier today by Mr Orban, then this is a force of a criminal gang. This is state terrorism and racketeering. We have already sent an official note demanding an immediate release of our citizens. We will also address the European Union with the request to provide a clear qualification of Hungary’s unlawful actions, hostage-taking, and robbery. I visited Kyiv on the anniversary of the war in Ukraine together with European leaders. Russia invaded Ukraine four years ago. Initially, the war was supposed to last four days. The Ukrainians have been fighting for their independence for four years. Right now, they are fighting for all of Europe. We will support Ukraine for as long as it takes. Slava Ukraini.
