Having that horrible Thatcherite bastard at our ground on the very soil where there was once a coal mine would be the biggest insult to the City of Sunderland and the wider community of the North East, wonder what happened to keeping politics out of football…

@sales_belinda Belinda you’re forever screwed, you can’t see it. A population of 75 million by 2030, predominantly Muslim, a world population of 10 billion predominantly African and Muslim. I hope you have wealthy boomer partners to help you escape the U.K.

Just popped in #Waitrose. In the queue, over 70s with their trolleys each with a copy of either the Daily Mail or the Telegraph. This is one reason why Reform has done well. 2 tabloids that aggressively promote the far-right. Depressing.

@FizzyBook @RupertLowe10 @Nigel_Farage Farage won election as an MEP 5 times (serving continuously from 1999 until the UK left the EU in 2020). He is now an MP and odds on favourite to be the next UK Prime Minister. Unlike Restore, Reform UK is an official Party that can stand candidates..

Our party leader @Nigel_Farage has outworked, outfought and outclassed the political establishment at every turn for 20 years fighting to get our country back. He is the most successful British politician for decades and I'm honoured to play my part supporting him.

It’s called Question Time. The format is supposed to be that the audience ask questions and the panel answers. Fiona is meant to moderate. Week after week, she interrupts, talks over people and aggressively pushes her own agenda. It’s becoming almost unwatchable. #bbcqt

@solentsport @BBCRadioSolent No It's a league and the best teams are top. As they say the league doesn't lie But now you're rewarded for coming 8th with a chance of promo. And as we see every year the top two teams struggle to stay up. What chance does a team In position 8 have of making a fist if the prem

Blame for Labour’s defeat lies squarely with Keir Starmer and his clique. They put factional interests over having the candidate best placed to win, Andy Burnham. If Labour is to be the “Stop Reform” party, then the leadership must stop treating progressive voters with contempt - and start appealing to them. That means a return to real Labour values - through policies like a Wealth Tax, public ownership of energy and water, and an ethical foreign policy that are all popular with the public. And it means ditching the approach of trying to ape Reform and kicking the left, that has alienated so many people who have voted Labour previously.

It did not take you long, did it, Richard? You and John are once again sniping at the very Labour Party you represent and under whose banner you were elected, under the leadership of Keir Starmer. You owe your position, in no small part, to that leadership. To be frank, many people are weary of the constant criticism from you and others on the party’s left. It often appears less like constructive challenge and more like a sustained effort to undermine the party from within. You must surely recognise that a programme rooted in the far left has no realistic prospect of forming a government in the United Kingdom. Today’s result is of limited significance. It reflects a momentary backlash shaped by Reform and the wider political climate rather than any lasting shift. The Government still has nearly two and a half years to deliver its programme and demonstrate the benefits before the next general election. I fully expect Sir Keir Starmer to lead the party into that contest. In return, it is reasonable to expect discipline and loyalty from constituency MPs such as yourself. If you feel unable to serve under his leadership, then the honest course would be to step aside and align yourself elsewhere, whether with the Greens or with Jeremy Corbyn’s political project.

We have always voted on ifs and maybes. The current Government has U-turned over 10 times, has gone back on manifesto promises.... They are not alone, John Major agreed Maestricht without a public vote, we entered the EU without a public vote.... Unfortunately, there is no law that compels a government to do what they said they would.

Keir Starmer criticises Reform UK Ltd for wanting to tear up the Equalities Act "This is decades of protection and goes to basic values" "One of which is, should women be treated equally as men" "This goes to the heart of core values" "I believe passionately that to be tolerant, compassionate and diverse, is what it is to be British" "And this tears that up" "I would genuinely like to see anyone from Reform UK Ltd defend the proposition that women should not be treated equally with men"

@RC_Balance @implausibleblog And we vote then on ifs and maybes. Brexit, leaving ECHR scrapping equalities. Its all about deregulation and not good for the ordinary person on the street.

@mrtein @implausibleblog You really do not understand law making or choose to be obtuse. The act will be revised, rewritten, superceded whichever you can understand. This is how Parliament scraps and introduces new Laws. So until the Law is written you can assume nothing.
