Anthropic just blocked Claude subscriptions from powering third-party AI agents. Heavy users were running $1,000 to $5,000 in daily compute on a $200/month plan. That math doesn't work for anyone. But the bigger lesson here is one builders keep learning the hard way. Never build your core stack on subscription access. API pricing exists for a reason. If you're serious about using AI in production, you pay per token. That is just how it works. The people complaining loudest right now are the ones who built on something they knew was too good to be true.

Every company is hiring "AI engineers" now. Half of them just need someone who knows how to write a good prompt and connect two APIs. The job title is new but the skill is just "figures things out fast."

OpenAI is worth $852 billion and 90% of their users are using it to fix grammar in their emails. 😭 The biggest tech company in the world is basically Grammarly with a $100 billion marketing budget.

Oracle just fired 30,000 people with a 6 AM email. Locked them out of their systems before they even woke up. The reason? They need $8-10 billion in free cash flow to build AI data centers. Took on $58 billion in new debt in two months. They looked at 30,000 humans and a spreadsheet full of GPU orders and picked the GPUs. This is the part that should scare every knowledge worker. They were not struggling. Revenue was fine. They just decided AI infrastructure is a better investment than people. If you are not learning how to build with AI right now, you are the line item that gets cut next.

Made a little pet claude that lives on your desktop and watches your screen

Anthropic just accidentally shipped Claude Code's entire source code to npm. 512,000 lines of TypeScript. 1,906 files. Someone left a 60MB source map in v2.1.88. A researcher found it at 4am and by breakfast it was mirrored on GitHub with 5,000+ stars. This is their SECOND leak in less than a week. Mythos was five days ago. The exposed code is wild. They found KAIROS, an autonomous background daemon that keeps working when you're idle. It consolidates memory, resolves contradictions, basically "dreams" at night to sharpen its understanding of your project. Also a Tamagotchi AI pet called Buddy with 18 species and stats like "debugging" and "chaos." Here's the thing though. This is arguably the most sophisticated AI coding tool on the market right now. $2.5B in annual revenue. And the leak happened because someone forgot to exclude a source map from a production build. No hack. No security breach. Just a human forgetting one line in a build config. The irony of building the world's most advanced AI system and getting undone by a .map file in your npm publish script is honestly the most relatable engineering moment of 2026.
