We just rented a property for a weekend break – the owners charge me for an extra 8 hours cleaning above the standard cost. They sent me images supporting their deduction. We left it clean and tidy - ok some unwashed dishes in the sink and a bottle outside. Is this fair?

@phildstewart Is it not reasonable that it a foreign person lives in the US on a visa and then criticises the US that the American people will expect their government to revoke that visa and deport them -we should be doing the same

MORE - (Reuters) - U.S. federal agents have arrested the niece and grand-niece of late Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani after Secretary of State Marco Rubio revoked their lawful permanent resident status, the State Department said on Saturday. "Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter are now in the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement," the State Department said in a statement after Rubio revoked their green cards.

How awful-I am so sorry. Grossly insensitive but sadly I’m not hugely surprised. You’d hope everything would be neatly and respectfully folded and arranged. Perhaps you should do one or both of the things from which you have refrained? Sometimes it’s the only way to change things.

I went to the care home today to retrieve my father’s belongings. This is what was presented to me. I had to ask twice for a private place to sort through it. I said nothing, nor will I name the “care” home. My father’s life was not garbage.

A group of Iranians is allegedly out hunting for the downed F-15 navigator to collect the bounty. @CENTCOM, please wipe these animals out. The pilot MUST be brought home safely before these savages find him.

@RKelanic Of course you aren’t! You are a military expert , know more about the state of the war than US command , with access to intelligence on the ground in Iran -

The Pentagon has claimed that lower Iran missile count = degraded command & control, but I’m not convinced. Iran’s ability to coordinate combined-arms assaults on bases like Prince Sultan in Saudi Arabia, which included missiles and drones, suggests rumors of command & control demise are greatly exaggerated. Missiles & drones move at wildly different speeds and could be launched from far-apart locations. The fact Iran can converge them on a single objective is a sign of sophisticated C&C. @ka_grieco has done tons of analysis that suggests the lower firing count reflects a selective targeting marathon strategy, rather than C&C difficulty or lowered overall capacity.

BREAKING; If IRAN captures a US pilot alive, the war could enter a new phase— Economist A captured American airman would give Iran significant leverage. It could force the US (under President Trump) into higher-stakes decisions—potentially more aggressive escalation, special operations raids, or concessions—to secure the pilot's release, rather than treating the conflict as a contained air/missile campaign.

Absolute panic in Washington. FOX News confirms the Pentagon and CENTCOM have gone completely silent for 24 hours after an American F-15E was shot down in Iran. They are terrified of leaking any info while the disastrous rescue mission struggles.

@RKelanic I thought both Germany and Japan did surrender unlike end of WW1 when it was a cessation of hostilities followed by a peace treaty -the bombing was part if the strategy which enabled that -Germany did sue for peace but were refused

Heavy bombardment of Tehran isn’t going to make Iran surrender. The history of strategic bombing is dead clear on this: it doesn’t work. The U.S. firebombed Dresden & Tokyo during WWII, killing tens of thousands. Neither Germany nor Japan surrendered. More recently, Moscow’s attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities also hasn’t forced Ukraine to surrender. In the age of nationalism, bombing infrastructure doesn’t break the will of the populace —it *increases* their resolve to resist. It is strategically counterproductive. When strategic bombing fails, the pressure will increase for further escalation, perhaps as boots on the ground, as the U.S. chases sunk costs. This is how wars that start little get bigger and bigger. To avoid self-entrapment in a long war, Trump needs to reject the sunk costs fallacy and change course. There is no silver bullet to victory here — indeed, no path at all to strategic victory. The best Trump can do is limit the self-inflicted damage to the U.S. military and economy by ending the war as soon as possible. @defpriorities nytimes.com/2026/04/03/wor…

🚨🇮🇷 Iran just "opened" the Strait of Hormuz. But read the fine print. Ships carrying essential goods and humanitarian supplies can now pass through... to Iranian ports. Under IRGC-approved protocols, with cargo lists, crew manifests, and destinations submitted in advance. Iran shut the strait to pressure the West, then selectively reopened it for allies: China, Russia, India, Pakistan, Philippines, country by country, deal by deal. Today's announcement is the next layer: inbound humanitarian cargo for Iran itself. 2,000 vessels are still stranded, oil is still above $100. Israel-linked ships are still being targeted, Iran hit one with a drone in the strait this morning, same day as this announcement. Iran is managing the strait like a sovereign economic weapon. It's not open. It's on Iran's terms, for Iran's benefit, on Iran's timeline. Source: Tasnim, @clashreport

🚨🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran: "We will demonstrate our capabilities in the field. New air defense systems that are being built domestically will be unveiled one after another in the field of action. We will definitely achieve full control over our country's sky and will prove the humiliation of the cowardly enemy to the world more than ever." @TabzLIVE

@Scaramucci Air supremacy is just that you control the air space not absolutely but effective, just like for example at any UK airport a hand held missile can take down a plane yet we had air supremacy over UK -be realistic

Losing an F-15 over Iran while claiming air supremacy is a wake-up call. A successful outcome isn’t more bombing — it’s Hormuz reopened, a nuclear deal on a separate track, and US credibility restored through results, not rhetoric. Win the peace, not just the news cycle.
