@MarkLazerus Bedard has to suffer through a different pairing of wingers damn near every game, and other than Bert, none of them can finish the chances he gives them.

Would Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks have had a similar season to Macklin Celebrini and the Sharks had Bedard not gotten hurt in December? It was trending that way. But Bedard is looking forward, not back: "I’m going to get better every year.” Story: nytimes.com/athletic/71729…

When I told Anton Frondell that Jeff Blashill had twice equated him to Jonathan Toews, he looked at me like I had two heads. "TOEWS?!" he said. Yeah, Toews. Frondell is still, in his words, "far away," but Blashill's not far off, either. Story: nytimes.com/athletic/71685…

@brooke_lofo Hopefully Frondell learned from his awful play on the 3-3. You just don't let that player get between you and the goalie, and then not hustle like crazy to get back. It was a horrendous play by him. Coaches better jump on him for that!!

#Blackhawks Jeff Blashill noted, in part, postgame with the 4-3 OT loss: “You know, we haven't been good enough in 3-on-3. So, that's frustrating for all of us. I'm sure it's frustrating for you guys. Frustrating for me. Frustrating for the players. But I don't think that should take away from the process that we had through lots of that game, [which] was really good.”

@bedsysburner98 Greene is growing on me, but Bedard needs someone that other teams fear to face, and Greene isn’t that yet. I like Frondell’s physical game as well as his offensive game, he’s gonna be a stud.

1st period takeaways (ft Frondell taking the opening draw): - Anton Frondell is here to stay. - Wyatt Kaiser is buzzing, his recovery time is incredible - I think I’m done with Ryan Greene next to 98, put Frank the Stallion on that LW - Spencer Knight is locked in #Blackhawks

@1ChicagoSports @BenPopeCST Can’t pinch at the blue if your offside winger is in la-la land, that’s just an invite to an odd man rush. Which we gave up goals against last night doing.

@BenPopeCST Feels like such a cop out. Their gaps are terrible, they’re not killing plays quickly, they’re not defending the blue line at all. All the D need to take a hard look in the mirror. The great teams aren’t scared to try to make plays in the offensive zone.

The Blackhawks are the first team in almost two years to allow 38+ shots in four consecutive games. Alex Vlasic: "A lot of it starts with our offensive zone play and how we're managing pucks in that end... We're just giving them an easy out of the zone if we're making blind passes to the slot. We were having success in other games when we were just keeping it simple, east-west behind the net, grinding them down, getting shots from the point and playing a predictable brand of hockey. When we started to complicate it, they started to force turnovers, and that led to time in the D-zone, and the more tired you get, it's a snowball effect."
