Under-discussed nuance here. Wealthy families (who can afford private school) actually tend to stay in the city (close-in residential enclaves) to raise their kids. The next tier is effectively forced to move 30-45 minutes away to find a decent school system.

That person has untold power, and can go and vaporize entire nations off the face of the earth. He can kidnap foreign leaders, he can do so much. But he can’t go to American cities and fix them. He can’t fix American states. The President of America has more power over the world than he does over his own country.
