Tesla says FSD was off before Cybertruck crash — but the video tells a different story electrek.co/2026/03/18/tes… by @fredlambert
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert The driver could have hit the brakes and came down to a safe speed for that corner in 3 seconds. The driver had 4. This driver didn’t attempt to slow the vehicle after disengaging.

English

All you have to do is watch the video to see that there is nobody controlling the car for four whole seconds. She didn't turn off FSD because she was taking control and trying to avert an accident. She isn't trying to break, she isn't trying to turn.
Either she accidentally turned off FSD and didn't realize it until the crash, or she did it on purpose so that she could sue.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Hating on Tesla self-drive is a weird flex, but you do you.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Autopilot was clearly going to drive straight off that overpass and the Driver had to disengage to try and save it.
$TSLA autopilot is dangerous if left on its own.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert I’m aware of the academic research in this area but if autonomous driving complacency was a serious issue in Tesla’s case, wouldn’t we see it in the numbers? Tesla is claiming FSD Supervised offers much higher safety than humans driving alone.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Electrek even though fsd was disengaged before this video started (crash happened at 4 seconds ), all that aside, do you go to sleep using your cruise control? No you supervise and intervene if needed. Why different rules do you always apply for Tesla?
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Wow the Musk fanboys are rabid. I love me FSD for roadtrips, but stuff like this turn here is a very obvious weakness for FSD. Poorly marked lane closures? Or whatever those cones are supposed to be for. FSD clearly going to fast, my gut tells me it wanted to continue straight.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Doesn’t mean she wasn’t pressing the accelerator
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert It was minutes not seconds before the she disengaged , Fred will lie and say it was seconds
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert It does not matter if FSD was on, how many times do you need to be reminded that the driver OPTED IN TO CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES.
Whatever happens after that opt in is on the driver. If they don’t want the liability DON’T ACTIVATE FSD.
No more crash articles needed
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert The entire video from start to crash is about 4 seconds. Looks to me that if she hadn’t disengaged, worst case is that it would have slowed and barreled safely straight through the cones. The DRIVER turned it towards the barrier trying to catch the corner.

English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Why was it doing 60 into a tight turn in a construction zone?
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert That’s not 4 seconds out. But your theory is, the car is coming way too fast to a corner so the owner turns it off and accelerates into a pole? C’mon @FredLambert. Be more creative.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert It’s all on the driver bruh whether you want to believe it or not. It never slowed down. Even version 12 can see those cones, and make that turn with no problem
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Others have proven that FSD makes the correct decisions in the exact spot at the exact speeds. She wrecked it unfortunately.
English

@ElectrekCo @Automoto415792 @FredLambert Musk is a conman! I find pleasure knowing insurance claims will bankrupt his company!
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert So why have so many other Cybertrucks driven through the same site in FSD and no problem? Difference-driver.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Guess who is back, back again? Fred is back.
Tell a friend
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Electrek is the WORST publication. All they do is bash Tesla. So ridiculously bias.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Interesting that the video starts 3seconds before impact but FSD was disengaged 4sec before impact. There was lots of time to either brake or steer .
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert What are you telling us Musk and Tesla is lying? That’s impossible
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Lies!!! FSD was not engaged. Even if it was it’s still the drivers responsibility
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Buy a Tesla 🍋 and Elon smears Musk all over you.
• Junk parts <~> trash build.
• Sudden acceleration 💀
• Unexplained 🔥
• Whompy wheels.
• Randomly becomes a brick 🧱
• HORRIBLE customer service.
• Engaging FSD is suicide 💀
• Declining resell value 📉
• ⚠️ Range ⚠️

English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert It takes 2.7 seconds for a Cybertruck to go from 50 mph to 0. Your article is BS.

English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Electrek can’t help itself. Never one to forego an opportunity to smear Tesla.
English

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert Lol lying Fred at it again
She disengaged looooong before the turn so why would it slow down?
60 mph for 4 seconds is… 352 ft
She was a football field away from the turn when she disengaged. I know you’re a bit retarded, but maybe learn some math sometime
English

News flash. Electrek grasping at straws. Electrek is the only thing dumber than the driver, who didn’t realize Tesla’s log would show she disengaged 4 seconds before”before” she did zip nada nothing to slow down or turn.
FSD was taken off by the driver 4 seconds before”before” the crash. A vehicle driving at 50 mph would travel 293 feet in 4 seconds.
English

Freddy Krueger is back at it again… 🤡
Do you ever say anything positive about Tesla now that you’re stuck in your woke bubble?
Tesla’s own logs show FSD was disengaged 4 seconds before the Cybertruck hit that barrier… hard data, not your “nuanced video story.” You clowns always twist rare crashes into “FSD is doomed” while ignoring the billions of safe miles and thousands of lives actually saved (Tesla safety report + NHTSA numbers prove it’s 7x safer than human drivers).
You never mention that part, do you? Just endless negative FUD from the same woke media that hates anything Elon builds.
Keep coping, retard. The truth is FSD is saving lives every single day while you cry about one disengaged crash.

@ElectrekCo @FredLambert What of someone sees FSD in a bad scenario and shit it off at least second to make the crash less bad?
