That also applies to the medium as well. The acting is partly the problem but it also isn’t. The guy is acting the part, that is Luffy. So from an accuracy standpoint he’s doing his job. Some one piece fans are attacking the actor because they think his acting is bad, but that’s not the issue. The issue is the character he’s trying to portray. Luffy as a character will never work well in live action. There isn’t an actor alive that would be able to bring him to life without being cringe and uncanny. Emulating that character’s personality and behavior will always be seen as “bad acting” because Luffy as a character is very cringe and unserious. Seeing a human behavior that way will always be seen as “weird”. The adaptability to live action will always depend on how close the original was at mimicking human behavior. Anime is exaggerated but it works because the characters are cute and colorful. When a real person does it that can come off as cringe or uncanny. Comic book characters are easier to assimilate because comics already have that realism. That’s all it is really. You could change these aspects but anime fans will hate that also.

Anime fans will eventually have to come to same realization sensible comic book fans did. Different mediums exist for a reason. Most things in anime won’t translate well to live action. I can see kids enjoying this though.

This request might not make any sense, but what anime do you recommend to someone who hates anime? That someone is me, I can't stand most anime tropes and how they pander to fan-service crazed high schoolers. Give me stuff that feels very much like its own thing.
