If Bitcoin is such an obvious scam, why are the arguments against it so often locked behind paywalls? Over and over again the headlines say the same thing: Ponzi. Scam. Worthless. Dangerous. Yet the full argument is frequently hidden behind a subscription wall. Why? If the case against Bitcoin is so obvious, so airtight, and so urgent, why is it so often locked away from public scrutiny? Maybe it is simple confirmation bias. People already suspicious of Bitcoin are more likely to click on an article that tells them they were right all along. Agreeable narratives sell. Maybe it is rage bait. Bitcoiners paying just to read the latest recycled criticism. Or maybe it is something else. Weak arguments tend to sound stronger when fewer people can examine them closely. The latest example came from former Prime Minister Boris Johnson (@BorisJohnson) in the @DailyMail: “I’ve long suspected Bitcoin is a giant Ponzi scheme…” He might be right. He might be wrong. But if the argument is strong, it should not need a paywall to protect it. Bitcoin is not asking for blind belief. Most people in Bitcoin would tell you to do the opposite: question everything, challenge every assumption, and do your own research before forming an opinion. The best ideas usually survive open scrutiny, even if it takes time...
