Hakuba. Village of 9,000 in the Japanese Alps. Three hours from Tokyo by bullet train. In 1998, they held the Winter Olympics here. Now it’s quiet again.
In 1981, a guy named Ryo Nishino opened a French restaurant in this village because he loved French food and French wine.
He built eleven rooms upstairs so people could sleep after dinner.
He called it an auberge. Nobody in Japan knew what that meant yet.
44 years later, Nishino still pours wine at the bar most nights. He wrote a book about it. His chef trained under the late Patrick Pages—a French Grand Chef who once cooked for a president. The kitchen flies in Challans duck, Bresse chicken, foie gras, truffles. 8-course dinner. Voted No.1 French in East Japan.
Some evenings, after the fine dining service wraps, Nishino puts on a chef’s jacket and makes okonomiyaki behind the bar counter while his guests drink Burgundy. Midnight. Japanese street food. The man who wrote the wine book, flipping batter.
His staff have been with him 20 years. They meet you at the train station. Drive you around. Do your laundry. At check-in, someone brings you his crème caramel and a cup of camomile tea.
There’s a private onsen—cedar walls, mountains through the window, no sound at all. You book it for 50 minutes. In winter, you soak after a day in the powder. In summer, after hiking to Happo Pond at 2,000 metres, when the Alps go emerald and everyone forgets this village exists.
No elevator. Twin beds. English is limited. Effort is not. 15+ only.
Runs about ₹15-25k a night, half-board—meaning his dinner is included.
@paperplane_club members pay less as always.
If Japan’s anywhere on the list, DM @bizaditya. He’ll sort it.
Ok I'm getting a ton of questions about custom agents in @NotionHQ. So we're doing a deep dive, live!
Comment 'agent' below and I'll send you the invite. 📩
im sure ashish, ishaan and tj are going to build an incredible firm and that peak is also gonna thrive but ashish's investment in groww is such a massive outlier in the ecosystem - a single GP / MD at india's most storied firm will generate more DPI than most institutions have ever. for context: in Accel's fundraising slides they have "delivered $1.1 billion in net distributions to LPs since 2008" and im not sure if many other firms let alone partners are on track to deliver $1B+ in net distributions - perhaps Elevation with Paytm / Meesho / Swiggy and Lightspeed with OYO

I added $AMDI to the portfolio.
We absolutely ploughed through 10k followers. 2026 is going to be a big year. Pumped to be on this ride with you all.
Still holding £20k give or take in Bitcoin which I will likely sell to add to this portfolio if it goes back to $100k.
I’ve made some changes to the boring 10+ year growth pie which I DCA into. Pie here:
trading212.com/pies/ltzntt0aH…
I also made a pie replicating my main income portfolio as people kept asking. It can be seen here:
trading212.com/pies/ltzntt0aH…
Here is a pie I made for a little challenge with the input of you guys. A bit of single stock fun that I’m going to DCA into weekly. You’re welcome to join and see how we do in 2026:

January plan: keep stacking and reinvesting all dividends. The bulk of the dividends to go back into the basket funds, a smaller % into the single stock ETP’s as well as growth pie.
I am also considering adding $CEGI to the portfolio. Tbc.
As always, this isn’t financial advise, I’ve no idea what I’m doing.
Keep stacking friends 💰

@mitch_petersen7@Adam02144644 Amazing! Congrats! I am getting "Enable JS / remove ad blocker" error when I'm refreshing. Never happened before. Anyone else also facing this issue? How do I fix it?
@tennisjames85 Managed to get Row A for July 5 Centre Court but just realised it's right behind the umpire. Anything I can do to switch/change my tickets?

This is so fucking insane - easier to be an unskilled migrant claiming asylum and getting a work permit than to have gotten a Bachelors/Masters from a US university and get an H1-B
