@ChiBearsCentral I believe Ben is in charge of all football operations. Soup to nuts. Which is why last years draft was the best in the Poles era by a ton. This years draft is on Ben as well. So, we'll see but not addressing the DL is troubling. Tells me this is a multi year plan.

Haize calls out Bears fans for giving Ben Johnson all the credit while blaming Ryan Poles for draft picks they didn’t like. The Bears’ draft strategy was a collaborative effort — so should both be judged together? #ChicagoBears #RyanPoles #BenJohnson #BearDown

@_NickWhalen @MikeClayNFL Nice rose colored glasses. Did you cherry pick some stats to support your narative? They were 29th in pass rush win rate and 29th in defensive ypc (5.0). You don't get much worse than that.

@Eliott711 Agree. The Bears won't admit this but this year is a developmental year. Very possibly a non playoff year. 2027 you'll see them overhaul the D line like they did the O line last year. Then it's Superbowl or bust.

This season Bears will rely on coverage sacks, creative blitz, & praying 1 or 2 guys take a leap on the DL. This season will be more about who’s going to be a piece on the DL for the 27/28/29 SB window. All the money on the DL will be gone after this season.

Can't be a contender without having a pass rush, which is something that Poles has failed to adequately address since arriving in town five years ago. #Bears

@usaydkoshul Who cares? He did, and it was a generational fleecing that has positioned the Bears to be contenders for a decade

Some thoughts on the #Bears draft class: 1) Not addressing the DL early is a clear indication the front office is banking on the current players on the roster to take a big step forward. 2) The Zavion Thomas pick, regardless of how it pans out, will always be confusing 3) After five #NFLDraft classes, Chicago is officially a draft and develop franchise, something that was once a foreign concept to this franchise. 4) Chicago hit on four players last year: Loveland, Burden, Trapilo, and Monangai. It's hard to hit on four draft picks, and so we have to temper our expectations for this draft class. 5) The #Bears defense, irrespective of addressing pass rush, still improved this offseason. DA has more of his personnel now and less of Matt Eberflus'. This is a unit that will start off slow but pick up steam as the season progresses.

@clayharbs82 12. If you combine our inability to stop the run and our lack of pass rush, we have to be the worst D line in the league. Can't win consistently in the NFL with a unit this bad.

The Bears are quietly building one of the best DB rooms in the league: - Coby Bryant - Dillon Thieneman - Tyrique Stevenson - Jaylon Johnson - Kyler Gordon - Zah Frazier - Malik Muhammad - Josh Blackwell - Jaylon Jones - Terell Smith - Elijah Hicks - Cam Lewis

Ryan Poles after the Bears passed on positional needs for the best player available: "We followed the board. To go into a draft and just start picking at your needs, hopping around the board ... that doesn’t play out very well over the long haul."

@BoilerEd Not sure why you're acting like this is my plan. I'm just making sense of the picks, like I said two times, it doesn't mean I agree it was the right path, I thought we would be defense heavy early.

So, not what I expected on day 2 (baring any moves to trade up) I thought this draft (like most of us) would be more defensive heavy early but 3 of our 4 picks were on offense. Won't say I agree with them, just more so understanding the process. - Log jam on the DL, maybe we're looking to see if Booker taking the next step, and figuring out what we have with Shemar Turner. Let the log jam clear up a bit in 2027 when you have a better picture on those guys and can clear Dayo/Jarrett. Invest capital on the DL in 2027. - C pick makes sense, and by all accounts Logan Jones is a top end addition from a school that manufactures good OL. Will most likely sit a season to understand the offense as Ben leans on his C a lot. - TE was not expecting until round 7 but getting the best blocking TE in the draft for the 12 and 13 personnel makes a lot of sense. Roush comps well to Kmet. Loveland is probably going to be used a match up nightmare in 13 while we can still have 2 down TE's. - WR Zavion Thomas brings sub 4.3 speed to a WR corps the severely lacked elite speed. Very good KR/PR, who can bring utility as well as the ability to blow the top off a defense. Again would I have preferred something else? Yes. This more serves to try and understand the moves. All we can do is watch and hope the best plays out.

Had the Bears been awarded a Resolution JC-2A comp pick for this draft for Ian Cunningham's leap to become Atlanta GM, it would have come at No. 101. As in right here on the draft board. SO ... Who's your pick? Post it here. Lock it in. Speak now or ...

@clayharbs82 D. A back up C that won't see the field this year, a package dependent 3rd string TE, and a kick returner on day 2. All 3 picks were 1 to 2 rounds early. I guess our existing roster is Super Bowl bound.

I think the Bears misread the board today. Took best players available which you like but at some point team needs has to come into account. Give me your day 2 grade for the Bears Chicago. #DaBears #Bears

@SethDavisHoops If nothing changes and the NIL/rev sharing purses increase at the rate they are now, the consensus 1st overall pick in the NBA draft will choose to stay in school.

Braylon Mullins’ decision to return to UConn is one of many examples that resoundingly refutes the narrative that NIL is bad for college athletics. Change is uncomfortable but when you have players turning down the chance to be first round draft picks to be college sophomore everyone wins.

@ZachVogt30 Love Mayer and I'll think he'll be a impact player for us next year. Just don't know if that's going to be as a primary PG. When he ran the O for Braden things devolved into ISO ball too many times for my taste.

There seem to be a lot of people who are unfamiliar what a teenage Omer Mayer looked like professionally in Europe with the ball predominantly in his hands… I am very much looking forward to next year.
Rapheal Davis@RaphealDavis3

CJ Cox and Omer Mayer make up one of the best back courts in the conference. Omer is one of those Hoopers that just needs the ball in his hands to really let his game flourish. And CJ is going to be one of the best two-way players in the country. Front court needs to round out.

@walkeri141 I don't necessarily disagree. Although Swain initiates the contact. But the vast majority of the time this is not a call that is made in the final 20 seconds of the game.

Just to clear this one up for Purdue fans bc I've seen many say this shouldn't have been a foul on Cluff - this is 100% a foul You cannot establish legal position from behind - this contact is not legal. It's a foul, it had to be called. Cluff should have just let him score up 3

@barstoolsports No it's not. But if you want to rewind the tape 15 seconds that wasn't a foul on Cluff either. You can't question one and not the other.
