PhD student Asha Daryanani from Jason Kim's lab, shared her research exploring how inflammation contributes to #type2diabetes & fatty liver disease. Her studies indicate that modifying inflammatory signaling in immune cells can protect against obesity-related insulin resistance.

We used AI to make CAR Tregs!!! A protein language model developed by @pranamanam @Penn created binders to a synthetic ligand. CAR Tregs using these binders recognize stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes generated by Ying Mei @ClemsonUniv and are suppressive! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

The @MaehrLab @UMassChan collaborated on this breakthrough cover story showing the first complete thymus regeneration. Since the #thymus trains T cells, central to the autoimmune attack in #T1D, this discovery could potentially inform new ways to reset or restore immune balance.
