Thank you. Could it be that some who do this have never been called out well? Could we hope that a careful rebuttal might send them off thinking? Too often they just instigate verbal slap fighting and seem to enjoy it. I’m new here. And old. And it just seems like the thing to do, in moderation, at times. Maybe it’s a waste of effort.

I’ll try a list of events Mr Wight says Iran invented algebra and American the hamburger. And followed that by saying ‘that is all you need to know’. I take no offense at he or you. But his arrogance and either ignorance or dishonesty does. I asked that he give 3 more contributions to the world from the Iranians, I would accept Persians and Assyrians too. But he has run off. I know many (although your refrigeration, the expansion of gases that is refrigeration, I’m not sure qualifies properly), but I was willing to bet he did not. Making my point. Stupid people making stupid remarks that denigrate America (or any person place or thing). Without even being able to explain why. Naked hatred disguised as cute and innocent remarks that, sadly, might sway a weaker mind. I chose to call that out to the best of my imperfect abilities.

I think they did some things in optics too. But their biggest contribution was SAVING WRITTEN MATERIAL. Only a few generations past nomads, the built magnificent libraries and housed books that would have most likely been burned, hidden, lost during the aftermath of Rome. My point is that I grow weary of the West self flagellation. I am most pleased with all and any signs of goodness in humanity anywhere.

America… WAIT. President Trump just said something that we have not heard in a very long time of ever Because on May 17th — Trump is personally inviting every single American to the National Mall. Not for a rally. Not for a political event. For a day of prayer. Praise. And thanksgiving to God. The part that amazes is WHY he is doing it. America turns 250 years old soon. And the most powerful man on earth — a billionaire who could be anywhere in the world — looked at this country’s 250th birthday and said the most important thing we can do to celebrate is get on our knees together and thank God. Not a concert. Not a parade. Not a political speech. A day of prayer. On the National Mall. For the entire nation. Think about what kind of President calls his entire country to pray? Because we have never seen this before. Not like this. Not this openly. Not this humbly. A man with everything — asking America to bow its head together before God on our nation’s most important birthday. May 17th. National Mall. Every American invited. This is not politics. This is history.
