Hey we may not have gotten $5k DOGE checks, $2k tarriff rebates, 20 million deportations, the abolishment of the IRS and the Department of Education or cheaper gas but at least we got a war that nobody wanted that doesn't benefit us in any material way whatsoever.

@rustbeltkid1 @danjac01 There is precisely one dairy left in st Charles. It is surrounded by $$$$$$$ housing developments. I don’t know how much longer they will survive.

@danjac01 An amazing corner of the world north of the state line Ironically, the areas closest to Chicago like St Charles had arguably greater dairies (due to proximity) but have been completely paved over now

There has been no greater "trapped by economics" scenario in the history of the United States The once independent small towns with machine shops and 1000 of farms will give way to a DFW style economic megalith All happening on top of the best soil on planet Earth

The largest data center in the entire state of Illinois is being planned right now It will be massive, spanning 800 acres of mostly farmland It will use 150,000 gallons of water every day. That’s 55 million gallons of water per year So many Illinois residents showed up to their city council meeting to oppose it they had to put out extra chairs in multiple rooms

@McFranchisee The worst thing anyone can do to any sandwich anywhere is put horrible, uncooked ‘slivered onions’ on it. I will allow and actually like cooked onions like you guys now do on the double cheeseburgers.

1️⃣ No onion and no pickle are probably the two most common “grill orders.” I bet no onion edges out no pickle, but both are very common. 2️⃣ Fun fact: In 2010, McDonald’s upgraded their shakes: clear cups, whipped cream, and a cherry. About seven years later, they removed the cherries because 50% of customers ordered “no cherry,” and countless others forgot to specify. I remember making shakes and handing them over, only for customers to refuse them because of the cherry. I never understood the strong aversion to a cherry. You don’t have to eat it, but people reacted like it was a hair in their food. RIP McCherry but onions & pickles are here to stay🍒

@McFranchisee What is Mcdonald's single most common sandwich edit? I first thought no tomato, but then realized most sandwiches don't have them. No onions, right ?

@JLinvilleFert Actually the first I’ve heard of it was this thread. I’ll keep an eye on it moving forward at least.

@JLinvilleFert MFV has tiny open interest. If I were to try and hedge my 70 tons, I practically would be the market.

With all happening with global fertilizer, it might be time to consider fertilizer futures. The CME has a 10-ton NOLA urea futures contract designed with farmers in mind. CME code - MFV Have a conversation with your broker. If they need details, have them reach out to me.

@Cetter15 Heh, nice. My urea is in the coop shed. Or on a barge in NOLA. Or in a boat in the gulf yet who knows. 😅

So, uh, hope everyone bought their fertilizer! Obviously a much more serious issue to wake up to but hey, just another obstacle thrown at the American farmer.

@NickHorob Geez dude. I spent the last week fiddling with Bolt to make an app to track input cost budgets across seasons and you’ve done this whole thing. 🤣

In all of 2024, China only exported 262K tons of urea (vs a normal 5 to 5.5M). This year, they have exported 4M tons with Nov/Dec still to go. Current global urea values are 20% higher than the same time last year. Please make it make sense.

I’m harvesting the largest corn crop our farm has ever harvested on marginal ground with an end of season drought. Every elevator around is full. And traders and farmers on this old site are pissed off USDA didn’t ‘lower’ yield enough. Oooookay.

It’s really hilarious that this site’s users are fine with expressing one, usually very negative sort of opinion. And immediately pile on someone expressing a different, often positive, opinion. I got EXACTLY the response I thought I would get from my post yesterday.

@bighatguy Fair. Mostly interested in reminding this site that lots of people had a really good crop this year. If you only read the reaction here, you’d think everything was a disaster.

@Cornwuff Ya you’re right but you’re acting like they shouldn’t lower it despite disease issues etc. They didn’t lower because they have no data not because it’s as big as they thought.
