Interestingly, this is exactly what happens in Russia on a regular basis. Now we are all concerned not so much about the special operation as about some problems in domestic politics. Well, just because it all depends on how they will be solved. Speaking in general terms, today's Russia is a Western country in terms of the principles of power (and culturally it is its western part, which is much closer to us), living in accordance with Western ideas, disappointed in its own ideas about the Soviet era. But the experience of the last 30 years shows that we need our own clearer reasons for formulating our position in the world, and that they differ from the generally accepted ones. And this is a difficult task, because this time there is not even a single candidate in sight. It is clear that there are more pro-Western and less pro-Western people. And shy people who suddenly saw great pragmatism and adequacy to the real world in the way the Soviet Union was organized.

@DearEdisson @hamishgryan @wlemonesc Historically it is proven that any state will eventually fall under its own greatness because something that is big it is just too hard to manage because of human nature. Eventually something somewhere will be sabotaged by corruption or other interests

Well, the bottom line is that without the agreement, there would be no question of sovereignty. The USSR was disintegrating on the basis of certain principles. If its citizens had known about all the consequences in 1991, they would have simply killed everyone involved. Let me remind you that the only surviving participant in the Belovezhskaya Agreements, as well as the successor of the second signatory (out of 3), recognized all this as a mistake. And this is not counting the fact that sovereignty disappears by itself when politicians within a country are paid to come to power in other countries.

Дарю идею на миллион. Почему до сих пор ни один производитель прокладок не догадался делать ассорти-упаковку на месяц? Ну это же база: 6 ночных, 12 средних и 21 ежедневка в одной красивой пачке.

If you read the current news and look out the window, your idea seems pretty mundane. When I read and watch, I remember a nursery rhyme that sounds like this: And the chanterelles took matches, lit the blue sea...... So I have nothing to answer you, everything is bad in the world. People are dumb today. But in general, I am far from anthropological pessimism - because I am Russian.

@voidcompiler @wlemonesc I'm pretty old by the standards of this company and don't have a valuable military specialty. But from the moment I started my career, I quit smoking and got fit. Since, apparently, sooner or later it will come to me.

Waiting is a really controversial topic. Many people thought it was better to wait. But the fact is that there are problems inside Russia that are in many ways similar to those in Ukraine. A sudden conflict initiated by the other side will significantly complicate the transition period in Russia. It will deprive us of control over the process. On the one hand, everything could turn out the same as in Crimea. And that means very little cost and very little violence. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. On the other hand, the special operation allows local authorities in Russia and residents to understand what they are really facing, on the one hand, and in a rather mild way, that is, to gain an advantage. On the other hand, under these conditions, reforms may begin that would otherwise stall. But yes, this is still not a question to which we give a definite answer. But this case is not one of those in which retreat.

@DearEdisson @wlemonesc Thanks for the answer! Theres definitly a Russia hating part of the EU, but theres also a European hating part of the EU that wants to destroy us. (Thats full of Jewish fingerprints) Dont you think it would be better to wait, before attacking?

@Mika_Suari @wlemonesc Well, what to do. It is their right to demand. Our right not to give. Everyone has their own interests, but Russia has not violated anything since it received the islands and has done nothing wrong to Japan except support trade.

Perhaps the assassination attempt on Trump was a cover-up. Now she will take the bottles approved by the Secret Service, add a little poison to each with a thin needle, and then place them unnoticed on the table at the next event, as if nothing had happened. Well, she didn't take them to drink, did she?)

Sovereignty is precisely what excludes the activities of other states, but in Ukraine all politics existed and exists only because of such influence. This is on the one hand. And according to the contract, you need to study the history of events. Without observing the conditions of non-alignment and realizing that the politics of a neighboring country would become hostage to the money of other states, there would be no sovereignty. If they had known today what price their descendants would have to pay, the people of '91 would have simply destroyed all those who signed the agreement. No one expected such losses and such a lack of self-sufficiency in Ukraine.

@Mountkatten @wlemonesc They still live there, and Russia as a whole is home to many millions of Tatars and Turkic-speaking peoples. In particular, in Crimea they were 10 percent, and they are today.

@AaronHinman4 @wlemonesc For sovereignty with conditions. The conditions were violated, and the policy also turned out to be not sovereign, but for the money of other countries hostile to Russia.

@jperegadea @wlemonesc Russia has never been a colonial empire in the conventional sense. All of our regions that could be called colonies had equal development conditions with the rest of the regions.

Things look a little different in Russia. If there had been a clear understanding in 1991 that an agreement with Western countries would not work, in particular, to advance NATO to the east and undermine the young post-Soviet regimes, the collapse would never have happened. But it happened, and everyone played a role in it. Back in 2007, Putin warned in Munich about the risks, but that didn't change anything. As a result, Russia would have to assume the role of the main actor in this process. There are many reasons - Ukraine's loss of sovereignty, violation of international treaties, the choice of ultranationalist mediation methods, the unwillingness of Russian regions to remain part of Ukraine, the possibility of the United States deploying its bases and equipment in Crimea. All these events are tragic, but the time for such discussions has already passed. A new reality has emerged in which the topics are already different. It is important to understand that there has always been an opportunity, but for some reason it did not work. Probably, both Ukrainians, Europe, and the United States considered all possible costs acceptable.
