That progress bar on a new Mac… It’s not loading files. It’s loading anxiety. 😅 I’ve seen “new computer day” turn into missing photos, emails—everything— because of one small mistake. Most people don’t catch it until it’s too late.

@DrKristieLeong What about the powder effectively being ultraprocessed? Would it not be better just to eat the strawberries? I guess there might be a cost implication too, but I'd have to research comparing the cost of strawberries with the cost of strawberry powder.

Strawberries for brain health? Researchers at San Diego State took a simple had older adults add the equivalent of two cups of strawberries a day (about 26 grams of freeze‑dried powder) and watched what changed over eight weeks. Key Findings from the Study: • Cognitive Boost: Participants saw a 5.2% increase in cognitive processing speed. • Heart Health: There was a 3.6% decrease in systolic blood pressure. • Antioxidant Power: Total antioxidant capacity increased by 10.2%. It’s a small daily habit with outsized impact for brain health. Do you enjoy strawberries? #BrainHealth #HealthyAging

@DrKristieLeong Blueberries or cranberries for us. Nuts about macadamia and cashews. Generally we have both in nuts and berries in our daily salad. If not, we'll be eating them in the smoothie.

Pistachios pack real prebiotic force. Their fiber feeds beneficial gut microbes -especially butyrate-producing bacteria and the shift shows up in studies. New data shows pistachios outperform almonds in "tilting" the microbiome toward a healthy balance. They are a prebiotic powerhouse that specifically boosts butyrate production, the holy grail of gut metabolites. How to apply this: ✅ Daily Dose: 3 ounces (~147 kernels). ✅ Visual Guide: 1.5 to 2 handfuls (in-shell). ✅ The Benefit: Measurable shift in beneficial gut microbes in just weeks. Stop snacking aimlessly. Start feeding the bacteria that protect your gut health. #GutHealth #Prebiotics

@DrKristieLeong It just wouldn't taste the same! I'm just gradually reducing dairy milk to ever smaller amounts. As the French say, un nuage de lait, a cloud of milk. I love that saying as it conjures up vast horizons, a tranquil tea dark sea (sorry Homer) and puffy little white clouds.

Black tea has definite health benefits, particularly for heart health. Adding milk is more debatable. Some, but not all studies show that, casein in milk grabs onto black tea's powerhouse antioxidants like catechins, reducing their absorption by up to 27%. You could use a non-dairy milk that's lower in casein. Coconut milk (the type you get in a can) has the least impact among tested alternatives. However, other milk alternatives, like almond, oat milk etc. have less impact than dairy milk.

Did you know your daily cup of tea might be quietly protecting your arteries? A 2022 study in Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology followed 881 women over age 75 and found something striking: Those who drank 2–6 cups of black tea daily had 16–42% lower odds of severe abdominal aortic calcification (AAC). That matters because AAC strongly predicts heart attack, stroke, and even dementia. So, what’s doing the heavy lifting? Flavonoids. About 76% of the flavonoids in the study came from black tea, and higher intake was linked to 36–39% lower odds of severe calcification. Interestingly, flavonoids from other foods showed similar benefits. Mechanistically, this makes sense. Black tea contains theaflavins and flavan‑3‑ols, compounds known to: 1.Reduce inflammation by calming NF‑κB signaling 2.Lower oxidative stress (ROS) 3.Improve endothelial function, which helps prevent vascular calcification In other words, the same pathways that damage arteries are the ones tea helps dial down. And the best part? This isn’t some complicated protocol. It’s a simple daily ritual. #HeartHealth #TeaBenefits Reference: Parmenter BH, Bondonno CP, Murray K, Schousboe JT, Croft K, Prince RL, Hodgson JM, Bondonno NP, Lewis JR. Higher Habitual Dietary Flavonoid Intake Associates With Less Extensive Abdominal Aortic Calcification in a Cohort of Older Women. The most powerful stress-relief tool on the planet is hidden in your throat. Because vibrating your throat can literally calm your entire nervous system. When you gargle or hum, you activate the vagus nerve - the main parasympathetic pathway connecting your brain, heart, and gut. It’s the same nerve responsible for lowering heart rate, improving digestion, and balancing inflammation. Regular gargling has been shown to increase vagal tone - that’s your body’s ability to shift from stress into recovery. Try this: gargle warm salted water for 30 seconds, twice a day. You’ll feel the vibration deep in your throat - that’s the vagus being stimulated. Over time, this simple ritual can reduce anxiety, enhance HRV, And - parasympathetic activation is strongly linked with longevity too.

Have you noticed how modern produce has been bred to be sweet? We’ve lost bitter compounds (found in arugula, dandelion, and radicchio) that trigger bile production and liver detoxification. Let's bring more of the bitter back! #LiverHealth #DigestionTips #FunctionalNutrition

If you experience restless legs or thinning hair in your 40s, reach for pumpkin seeds. They are a powerhouse of magnesium (for muscle relaxation) and zinc (for hair follicle health and testosterone support). Two tablespoons a day is a midlife multivitamin. #HormoneHealth #Zinc #Magnesium
