@naMnaSYt Zuko's redemption arc hits different because he actually knew how bad he was. He wasn't blind to it he carried it. That self awareness is what made him worth rooting for.

everyone has this caricature of themselves on display, but for Zuko its the worst because his isn't really that inaccurate, so he just feels like shit seeing everything he's ever done wrong

In the comic it is said that they didn’t feel loyalty to either. They were against zuko deporting them back and were against being annexed by the earth kingdom.

They were a core part of avatar that needed to be explored more. Obviously the way Korra did it was terrible
