@sareemakdisi @ChaseMadar No doubt Israel has a huge amount of influence. I still tend to suspect the US is playing its own game, however poorly or misguidedly.

At this point, it's also not serious to think that the US foreign policy blob doesn't know good & well what happens when you dismantle an autocratic central power. So ... is the chaos the point?

... Syria, Lebanon, & ofc the Palestinian territories. "It would be fine if they took it it all," Huckabee said. The US has already stood over the fragmentation of Iraq and Libya. Syria is in pieces now. The dismantling of Iran may be underway. Israel is already eying Turkey.

Nobody wants to hear this, but of all the places I’ve worked and lived, the region where I heard by far the most frequent and vicious antisemitism was the former USSR, including Russia, but most of all Ukraine. Just my experience.
