I never even understand how people with active, mentally taxing jobs find time to cheat on their spouses (and so many of them do), let alone this kind of elaborate flirtation?!

As someone who at one point had my internal organs lashed together with endometrial growths, I can confirm this is an under-researched and poorly understood condition. Like all things that only affect women, the medical establishment has historically shown little interest.
Yves ౨ৎ@yvessirae

Endometriosis, a condition affecting 190 million women and girls worldwide and causes internal bleeding, was given funding for a study in 2013. Instead of studying the causes what could help cure or ease it and what may make one more susceptible to it... They studied the "Attractiveness " of women who had it. Yes, this is a real study.

And the US government is absolutely criminal and self-destructive in its failure to enact policies and funding that support families and kids.

That’s all to say, if you think you probably want kids, in my experience, that feeling is only going to grow. And I suggest having them. And it won’t be perfect. And sometimes it will feel very hard. But other times transcendent. And that’s life.

It’s my daughter’s birthday and I just wanted to say that all of this is true. You should have kids. It’s a beautiful mess.

Gaza needs reconstruction. Instead, Israel is tearing down the few remaining buildings and no building materials are being allowed in. Everyone is playing political games while the people of Gaza rot: 1) The main obstacle is Israel. Itcontinues to classify essential items like cement, steel, and heavy machinery as "dual-use," meaning they could be used for military purposes. 2) The Israeli government has explicitly stated it will not contribute financially to reconstruction, arguing it has no responsibility to fund the rebuilding of a territory from which it was attacked. 3) The presence of Hamas discourages international investors who fear their funds will indirectly support rebuilding. Their presence makes it dangerous for the NCAGt he, technocratic body meant to manage rebuilding, to actually enter the territory. 4) Nickolay Mladenov, serving as the "high representative" for the Board of Peace has conditioned large-scale reconstruction on the disarmament of Hamas. 5) The U.S. administration is currently focused on its 20-point peace plan, which prioritizes a specific sequence that delays immediate rebuilding. The U.S. strategy insists on establishing a vetted technocratic government and an International Stabilization Force (ISF) before significant funds are released. Meanwhile, they have not built this force. 6) No one is donating money. While over $17 billion has been pledged, key donors like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar are hesitant to release funds without a long-term political solution, fearing that any new infrastructure will simply be destroyed in a future conflict. All of this serves Israel well, with its plan to make Gaza so unlivable, that everyone there either dies or leaves. But the entire international community is cooperating by doing nothing to stop this horror.

When Trump pulled out of the international nuclear agreement with Tehran in 2018, Iran lacked even a single bomb's worth of uranium. Since then, it accumulated 22,000 pounds of enriched uranium. @BlackiLi @WilliamJBroad nytimes.com/interactive/20…

Whenever I see an upsetting video like this I feel most confused/despairing over people like the man in the white shirt who doesn’t even break his stride. Is that normal? There is no way I’d see anyone (especially a nun!) attacked like that and not get into a fight over it.

I was at a packed, serious-topic lecture hall event in Ireland. ~10 U.S. students came in late, entry mildly distracting but not too bad. But — they brought snacks. Candy, chips. Crinkling wrappers, crunching like they were at the movies. Oblivious. I felt shame by association.

I've been in Japan for almost a week and I'm sitting in a busy cafe and this is the first time I've heard someone playing their phone out loud. And of course it is a tourist. I truly wish they'd boot her out of the country.

Wait, there there was something to “win” in places like Gaza (to which Israel has laid waste) or Syria (where Israel took advantage of regime collapse to invade and occupy a chunk of land)? Let alone the chilling “DEFEAT Palestinians in the West Bank.”

This is legitimately insane. Banning cell phones in schools might turn out to be the best thing we’ve done for our kids in a generation.

One year into cell phone bans, Dallas schools see 24% increase in library book checkouts. 👏👏👏 "Public school districts in Texas are almost one school year into the first statewide cellphone ban, and a North Texas school district is seeing positive impacts. Dallas ISD officials said that, district-wide, they have seen a significant increase in library book checkouts, which they largely attribute to students no longer having cellphones with them during the school day. "I started hearing, 'Oh, I'm so bored. I can't get on my phone after I do my work or during lunchtime,'" Hillcrest High School librarian Nina Canales said. "Once they lock into these stories, they don't seem to care about their phones at all." From the first day of school to March 31, 2026, the district reported an increase of more than 200,000 additional books checked out compared to the previous year. A look at the library checkouts for the previous year: 2025-2026 Total Circulation (1st day of school to March 31, 2026) – 1,084,837 2024-2025 Total circulation (1st day of school to March 31, 2025) – 872,430 Total library book checkout increase: 24.35% At Dallas ISD's Hillcrest High, students are following this trend. Canales said there were roughly 500 books checked out in the first nine weeks of the 2024-2025 school year. This school year, that number spiked to about 1,800 books. "That floored me," Canales said. "I had to re-do the report again because I was like, 'What, are you kidding me?'" Students felt the impact too. "Now that I'm busy with a bunch of work and college, I don't find myself missing my phone that much, even at home," said Yamilet Jimenez, 9th grader." By @laceybeasnews. @JonHaidt @safe_screens
