@MrLeadslinger If he stays outside, then the police can handle it. If he breaks in, I will stop the imminent threat of death or great bodily injury and discuss it with the police when they arrive. Was this guy on drugs or something?

@kariwarburton That's easy engagement farming, which is easy money. Some scriptures to ponder, then a talk by President Nelson if you have time. I will stress that I am not good at this on social media, but understand the theory well. churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-…

@HustleBitch_ The Church never has, and never will, ask for a W2. Whatever her reason for leaving the Church, it isn't this lie.

🚨 WOMAN LEAVES CHURCH AFTER THEY ASKED FOR HER W2 TO VERIFY TITHING — AND PEOPLE SAY THIS CROSSES A LINE She says it started like any normal first visit. They welcomed her, gave her a small gift, made it feel warm and inviting. Then they told first-time visitors to meet in the back if they wanted to join. That’s when everything changed. She claims they asked for her W2 to verify she was giving the full 10%. Not a suggestion. Not an honor system. Verification. She says growing up, churches talked about tithing, but no one was checking your income or tracking what you gave. Now she’s hearing stories of pastors following up with people directly…asking why they haven’t been giving. And at the same time? Mega church leaders living in multi-million dollar homes, driving luxury cars, flying private. Her reaction: “I think you’re good… I don’t think you need my W2.” People in the comments are saying this isn’t uncommon. Is this faith, or is this something else entirely?

@Pontifex Come on, my good Pope, you know history recent and ancient. The free market does allow some people to accumulate wealth, and stops no one else from succeeding by making their own. Socialism always fails, however, and requires violence to enforce.

Hundreds of millions of people throughout the world are immersed in extreme poverty. Yet, disproportionate wealth remains in the hands of a few. It is an unjust scenario, in the face of which we cannot fail to question ourselves and commit to change things. There is no lack of resources at the root of disparities, but the need to address solvable problems related to a more equitable distribution of wealth, to be achieved with moral sense and honesty.

@PJLTBD @warriors_mom Do the math. They'd have enough electors to prevent a conservative presidential win. And of course, Congress is directly elected. We would never have a conservative majority in the House or Senate again. We don't want most of Canada.

@BradRTorgersen I think the Snape race swap isn't problematic as such for the audience. Let the best actor for the role fill it. The problem comes in portraying Snape and how people respond to him accurately to the books without making the show hideously racist.

Black Snape doesn't bother me. I think it's a strange and unnecessary ethnic swap, but I was never a Potterite nor am I the target demo for this HBO thing, so I'm not invested. The Potterverse is definitely a younger Millennial and Gen Z thing. I was born at least twelve years too soon to get the bug. What legit agravates me is how the major studios are once again slavishly, in true Zombie Apocalypse fashion, re-animating the hulk of yet another already-adapted property for still ANOTHER adaptation. Versus adapting one of the ten thousand different, fresh, and equally worthy franchises that literally cover the English-language genre fiction landscape. Going back to the very beginning of the 20th century. The studios could harvest these for pennies on the dollar, and with frugal, shrewd production, reap the market benefits. But no. "WE HAVE TO HAVE A GUARANTEED AUDIENCE!" is the cry heard in every board room. Staffed with people who literally don't read, and don't give a fuck about how many IPs are just sitting there. Ripe for the taking! No. They will exhume and re-bury the same bodies over, and over, and over, and over, until the fans are bled dry, their enthusiasm for the over-adapted IPs is also bled dry, and there's nothing left but bitterness and acrimony.

@TheCriticalDri1 It is easy, safe within the Vatican, to see the world as it should be. Of course there should be no strife, taking of life, crime, or other issues. We could not create that world by surrendering to Nazi Germany. We can not make that world by surrendering to radical Islam.

Sooooo Pope Leo XIV just posted this gem and what he says is absolutely WRONG. There are reasons to go war and God does bless conflict and I’ll use scripture against his statement backing up Just War Theory. 🧵
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

Here you have it folks, the midterms dead on arrival. I no longer support this man. He isn't the same man I voted for in 2024. I don't regret my vote, but he does not have my support and you won't see me wear any of my Trump hats or shirts ever again. This is the biggest form of gas lighting and if you guys don't see how absolutely wrong he is, you have TWS. These are the same people who helped him win in 2024. If Charlie Kirk were still alive he'd be ripping Trump a new one. Massie was his favorite Congressman. Trump abandoned his base and his vile truth posts show what a flamming narcissist he is with what seems to be Asperger's. I am a constitutionalist. I am a Ron Paul Republican. I will not sugar coat this BS! @RealAlexJones you don't deserve this. We know how much you helped bring people to vote for him. I'll never forget how excited we all were on election night when @Lukewearechange and I crossed over with your crew.

@GunterFehlinger NATO doesn't work for us any more. We've protected Europe too long, and now you've shown you were never out friends and only our allies when convenient. This alliance will not survive European contempt for the people who have contributed so much to your defense.

Canadian here, with four (count em) points of clarification on the “MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+” thing, which has now escaped its absurdist Canadian genderwang containment chamber, and gone viral internationally: 1) the speaker here is @LeahGazan, a fringe minor-party politician. She’s not in the government. She regularly calls for dumb things, such as criminalizing anyone who dares talk candidly about the 2021-era unmarked-graves social panic. CBC types treat her as a serious person because she’s indigenous and because she always talks in the tear-drenched idiom of white-settler colonial evilness. But she’s not. 2) MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ is a mashup of two acronyms (each unique to Canada). Her decision to run them together is hilarious, which is why this has gone viral, but it’s not a common practice, even in rarefied leftist circles. 3) MMIWG refers to “Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women and Girls.” The problem of violence against indigenous women is a real and tragic issue. Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, a bunch of activists produced a ridiculous report on the subject that called it a “continuing” (!!!) “genocide,”and demanded that we all call it that. The whole movement collapsed when it was pointed out that something like 80% of the indigenous women who are killed are killed by indigenous men, which is very much off-message from the whole white colonial G-word thing. But the acronym still gets name-dropped when people are indicting Canada for all its infinitely genocidey genociding of everybody 4) “2SLGBTQetcetc…” Americans always ask me what “2S” stands for. It stands for “2 spirited,” a term that white academics popularized 50 years ago to give expression to their mystical reveries about sacred indigenous elf-people living in some precolonial eden-like genderwang Nirvana where everyone has three penises and five vaginas. No one is allowed to ask what the term even means, but our government made it official policy to use ridiculous words like this under Trudeau, so we’re stuck with it. Basically, if you’re an indigenous guy who likes to wear eyeliner, or an indigenous woman with blue hair and sensible shoes, you call yourself “2 spirited” on your govt grant applications. No one is even allowed to ask whether it’s a gender identity or a sexual orientation. It apparently exists in some exalted state that defies this kind of rigid colonial typology, or something like that. Back in 2022, I read a whole report about how to teach two spirited concepts to Canadian students, and it turned out that even the authors of the report admitted they had no idea what the term meant. I wrote about it for @Quillette: quillette.com/blog/2022/10/0…
