ok so oversimplification but: imagine a multiplayer map. in the current arrangement, a map runs on a server and the maximum size of a map is the maximum amount of stuff one physical server can handle now you can team up multiple servers to handle way bigger maps + more players part of the issue that final fantasy xiv experiences, for example, is that their server architecture (software) requires them to have VERY LARGE AND POWERFUL physical servers. this kind of software architecture lets you split one instance up over many physical servers without really having to do much, it appears they will automatically partition and transition between which server is handling which parts automatically so thats kinda cool. they may have just kind of solved infinite contiguous MMO worlds. if it works. big if

Gamedev is about to become soo easy. I’m … I dunno, I’m glad this pain and struggle of using the technology to create our artistic vision is coming to an end. I’m trying to find a way to accelerate it.

@chhopsky @idobadtakes hundreds of thousands of people each year die from medical errors, and millions more have their quality of life destroyed. Everybody I know has stories of doctors being dishonest. Zero (0) people die every year from botched app installs. don't like it? uninstall. no harm done

Tech workers once again starting to try to opine on medicine and getting everything wrong at every level Truly the worst combination of stupid and arrogant. Just because you can beep boop on the computer doesn't make you smart

@zeelee3D if it’s bad, stop doing it when you start attracting people who believe they are entitled to your effort to help them with whatever, i hope you remember this conversation

this is an example of how whack our society is these days… The quoted tweet comes out and says he’s an artist first, and then this guy takes an opportunity to dunk on him, without actually explaining anything at all. We could ask questions about a project and provide helpful help instead of shitting on everyone all the time jeez

😳Do you realise how expensive For Each > All Actors Of Class is? Probably why we should leave game programming to actual programmers.

@chhopsky See, the thing is that I refuse to explain myself to strangers on the internet. You have no idea what the context of any of this is but you’ve got lots of opinions and you take those somewhere else.

I need google alternatives. I am trying to find something and getting increasingly angry in ways that I am not normally angry and I don't like it.

@_bi_bitch the thing about losers is that they tend to be emotionally attached to the value system that rates them as useless. attempting to free them from it is akin to trying to take a chicken wing from a feral cat

@csaurageul that is an absolutely ridiculous thing to accuse jade of all people of a person who spent decades doing a job is telling you about their experiences doing that job and how it’s changed over time. stop making things up

@getpseudoed you were talking about having a sit down to find out about their genuine preferences now you’re telling me they’re actually bad people who’ve done terrible things surely you can see the confusion your framing is creating here. why do you care what bad people prefer?

@chhopsky If you had any idea what these people have done, you’d realize I’m being under-dramatic. But since you don’t know these people, your opinion is pretty irrelevant.

@chhopsky instead of entitled, I would say being decent to your fellow human. He’s taking the effort and the energy to post about it, and you can only presume in order to gain clout by stepping on somebody else. i disagree with the entitlement idea.

@csaurageul a great many of the things you get angry about could be prevented by actually reading the posts you’re angry about instead of skimming them for words you recognize and reacting to what you imagine they said

@ecalabr what we’re actually going to see in practice is the way AI learns to reliably detect “wolf” when training because there’s snow in the background ML in medical imaging is fraught with the same trap

Doctors say more low risk screening imaging is harmful. Math theory says that more information is better. Both can be true. The missing piece is the framework to make the right decisions with the imaging results. Many claim AI will solve this. I hope so. But I have doubts.
Taelin@VictorTaelin

I just accepted that doctors are bad at math it is embarrassing that the field responsible for making life or death decisions just collectively agreed on the obviously false, grade-school disprovable statement that more information can be bad to a robust decision making process
