As we've testified before Congress numerous times, interdicting online trafficking of child abuse imagery is the single most effective sexual abuse prevention strategy ever devised. Or we can wait for the victims to come forward years from now...

To be clear, @SenGreenstein and @GovMurphy: @NJSP has located 1,000s of suspects engaged in trafficking child abuse imagery in your state. At least 55% are hands-on abusers w/local victims. De facto NJ policy? Leave them at large. Stopping it costs too much. @dracioppi

deeply grateful to sam for taking the time to speak to me about child sexual abuse imagery. we recorded this months ago but the episode was held due to … well news… however it’s as important as ever and unfortunately remains very timely.

Survivors have a right to face their rapists outside the justice system in #transformativejustice processes if they choose. But children have no place in mediation-style programs with their abusers. They are vulnerable victims, who haven’t had a chance yet to become survivors.

While these advocates avoid mention of children, some "transformative justice" advocates propose (and may in fact be) putting child victims into mediation-type sessions with their abusers. PROTECT has a long history fighting that too: jangoodwin.com/reportage/plea…

For two decades, PROTECT has fought diverting rapists from the justice system. Now the other side is riding a huge reform wave. Their case? Sex crimes units suck. But incarceration only perpetuates violence anyway. Give the $ to nonprofits. And get survivors and rapists talking.
