🚨 BREAKING: Zarah Sultana uses parliamentary privilege to bypass court reporting restrictions and expose details of the Filton 24 re-trial. UK media has been banned from reporting key information. Zarah Sultana: “If convicted, they and 18 others will be sentenced as terrorists, but the jury will not be told that.” An MP going into Parliament to reveal what the press legally can’t report is rare - and explosive. This raises serious questions about transparency, justice, and what juries are - and aren’t - being told.

"The British state is so determined to prevent their acquittal before a potentially sympathetic jury that it rigging the trial and perverting whatever's left of democracy, all to preserve its special relationship with Israel."
The Grayzone@TheGrayzoneNews

A shockingly corrupted trial that exposes the British state’s weaponization of censorship and secrecy laws has just begun. The Grayzone's @MaxBlumenthal details how six activists from the direct action protest group Palestine Action face terrorism charges and the possibility of long prison terms – but the jury in the case is forbidden from knowing this. The UK media is similarly banned from reporting on these facts, while the defendants in the case are blocked by court order from explaining their motives for damaging and occupying Israeli weapons factories on British soil. Blumenthal explains why Palestine Action is being targeted with such a draconian prosecution: because they are effective. Having caused the closure of Israeli factories, they have provided activists around the world with a workable model for raising the cost of occupation and genocide. Now, he argues, the British state is so determined to prevent their acquittal before a potentially sympathetic jury that it rigging the trial and perverting whatever's left of democracy, all to preserve its special relationship with Israel.

201 DEAD BABIES. NHS KNEW. Bernie Bentick spent nearly 30 years as a consultant obstetrician at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (@sathNHS). From 2009 onwards he wrote to senior management repeatedly. He flagged understaffing. He flagged bullying. He flagged a culture where clinicians were too scared to speak up and managers were more interested in activity numbers than whether babies lived or died. They ignored him. Not once. Not twice. Repeatedly. For over a decade. The Care Quality Commission received his concerns too. They also ignored him. In 2017 they visited the Trust and somehow concluded that openness and transparency about safety was "encouraged." Two years later they came back and rated the maternity unit inadequate. You genuinely could not make it up. The Ockenden Review eventually investigated 1,862 cases. It found that 201 babies died who should have survived. Mothers died. Babies were left brain-damaged. The Trust had developed its own internal investigation process, outside national guidance, which conveniently meant fewer incidents were ever reported upwards. The same mistakes kept happening. For twenty years. Bentick was the first former staff member to speak publicly about what was really going on inside. He told @BBCPanorama that management responded to problems by trying to protect the Trust's reputation rather than actually fixing anything. He said they never really grasped how serious the cultural problems were. He is now a Lib Dem councillor in Shrewsbury. Still in the same town. Still watching. The Trust issued a statement accepting full responsibility and listing all the improvements it has made. Very good. It took 201 avoidable deaths and a national public inquiry to get there. If you are a healthcare worker who knows something is wrong and needs support speaking up, Protect @WhistleUK offers free, confidential advice. #RSAWhistleblowerFiles #NHSWhistleblower #OckendenReport #MaternityScandal #NHSSafety #PIDA #PublicAccountability #PatientSafety Source: @YahooNewsUK / @SkyNews / @BBCPanorama / Ockenden Review (March 30, 2022)

The comment I just posted above this has just been deleted so I'll try again. @zarahsultana says it exactly. My comment is that Yvette Cooper has committed contempt of court by lying and saying that the Palestine Actionists were targeting people. The impartial judge was replaced with one who charged the defending lawyer with contempt of court proceedings for reminding the jurors of their rights. The list of unjust actions in this case leading to a huge misdirection of British court justice is almost inevitable. @CraigMurrayOrg has done fantastic work in reporting this as an independent British/Scots reporter.

The levels of naked corruption in arraigning people for criminal damage and not telling the jury they will be convicted as terrorists is of the charts. Britain is a totally lawless state, not content with already undermining a jury, but now pulling this. Speechless

Israel’s bulldozers are wiping out civilian homes, tourist sites, and hotels in Naqoura, South Lebanon. Not military targets. South Lebanon is being erased — like Gaza before it. This is an American-backed, American-funded genocide.

By doing this @zarahsultana has performed a sterling service. To appreciate the extent to which the state is going to block justice for the Filton 24 and free reporting of the case, you really should read the full report in the second post.

NHS SPENT £857K PROVING THEY WERE WRONG Dr Kevin Beatt @drbeatt built Croydon University Hospital's @croydonhealth cardiology unit from nothing. Then he did something the NHS apparently cannot tolerate. He told the truth. He warned about dangerous equipment, nursing shortages, and bullying. Nobody acted. In June 2011, a senior nurse was suspended mid-procedure without his knowledge. A 63-year-old man, Gerald Storey, died on the table. The coroner confirmed the suspension contributed to his death. Beatt raised the alarm formally and repeatedly. The Trust sacked him for gross misconduct. Reported him to the GMC. Issued a press statement the tribunal later found was deliberately designed to destroy his reputation. Then they spent public money trying to make it stick. The Employment Tribunal ruled against them. Landmark judgment. No misconduct. No ulterior motive. Unfairly dismissed for whistleblowing. The Trust appealed. Lost. Appealed again. Lost. Tried the Supreme Court. Refused. Final bill to taxpayers: £857,110 in compensation. Plus years of legal costs. Jeremy Hunt @Jeremy_Hunt, Health Secretary at the time, called it a matter for the trust's board and walked away. The managers responsible faced zero consequences. This is the template. @NHS trusts have learned that burying a whistleblower in legal processes, exhausting their finances, and waiting long enough means most people give up. Dr Beatt did not give up. He won. And it cost him everything anyway. If institutions will not protect the people who protect patients, we have to. Share this. Because somewhere right now a doctor is deciding whether it is worth the risk to speak up. Jeez. Labour MP’s have just voted to give police unprecedented powers to ban recurring protests turning a fundamental freedom into a privilege granted by the state. No protest movement has ever brought about change through one single march or action - it’s precisely the cumulative nature of protest that has resulted in progressive change and held governments to account. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown by the government on our rights to freedom of expression and assembly but the government has driven it through anyway. How did it come to this?
Peter Stefanovic@PeterStefanovi2

🚨THIS WEEK MP’S WILL VOTE ON A BILL TO GIVE POLICE UNPRECEDENTED POWERS TO BAN RECURRING PROTESTS TURNING A FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOM INTO A PRIVILEGE GRANTED BY THE STATE We cannot allow this government to create a society where protest is treated as a privilege granted by the state rather than a right held by the people. The right to protest is precious and must be defended. ITS NOT TOO LATE to stop this shocking and shameful attack on our fundamental right to protest. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC and Greenpeace have joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown on our right to freedom of expression and assembly - and you can help too by CONTACTING YOUR MP RIGHT NOW - tag them to this film and and ask them to oppose this

🚨Breaking: MPs pass draconian laws restricting repeat protests "Policing by consent is a deeply held British custom. Today the Government has upended that tradition. By empowering police to stop protests on the basis of "cumulative disruption", which can include the impact of totally unconnected events, the government have hollowed out a fundamental right. The police have a ration book for public spaces, and protestors can only hope for coupons. The right to protest is protected under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act. We urge the police to think carefully about their legal obligations, about the role they want to play in British public life, and about ever using this power in practice. We hope the Government will, or a future government, will think again. " - Jack Coulson, Head of Advocacy
