No Canadian flag. No national anthem. For decades CCF / NDP conventions used to start with an opening prayer, and the singing of O Canada, God Save the King, and the magnificent William Blake hymn Jerusalem. It was a movement of the patriotic left, leavened by the spiritual vision of the Social Gospel tradition. But now? No Canadian flag in sight. No singing of the National or Royal Anthems. No pride in Canada’s history. It has become the unpatriotic left. Nothing but a collection of endless grievances, parodic identity politics, and class warfare.
