That viral map of “Russian invasions” is everywhere again. It shows real events but misses the bigger picture and like most Western artificial hate, it camouflages Western sins far more effectively than anything else. Russia never crossed oceans to plunder distant continents like Western empires. Its expansions were mostly defensive buffers after Napoleon burned Moscow in 1812, after Hitler’s invasion killed 27 million Soviets, and after 1990s assurances to Gorbachev that NATO wouldn’t expand “one inch east” were ignored. A flat plain with no natural borders made survival a constant fight. Now the same West lectures about “rules-based order”… US Monroe Doctrine turned Latin America into its backyard coups in Guatemala (1954), Chile (1973), many other repeated interventions. NATO expansion pushed right to Russia’s border despite earlier understandings. Iraq 2003 (WMD lies), Libya 2011 (UN mandate twisted for regime change) West sells wars as liberation but it’s imperial instinct, better marketing. Western powers built the largest colonial empires, redrew global maps, and toppled governments at will, yet condemn Russia for securing its near abroad against repeated existential threats. Russia wasn’t perfect, but it survived horrors that broke others. History is complex. Different standards for East and West say more about today’s narratives than facts. Think for yourself.
