When a Nazi officer entered Picasso's studio in occupied Paris, he saw a reproduction of Guernica. Shocked by the modernist 'chaos' of the painting that depicted the bombing of civilians during war, the fascist asked, "Did you do that?" Picasso replied, "No, you did."

Watching Into the Manosphere, it’s easy to see it as collection of individuals sharing hateful views. But that framing is exactly what the people interviewed want. When we see them as isolated trolls, we miss the bigger picture. The influencers targeting women’s autonomy are not alone. There is coordinated movement investing in rolling back women’s rights. Amnesty research uncovered 65+ UK anti-rights groups, 32 of which spent £106 million between 2019-2023. This is a well-funded attack. The Alliance Defending Freedom used the US courts to dismantle Roe v. Wade. Emboldened by their wins in the US, they are now importing those strategies to roll back freedoms in the UK. The Alliance Defending Freedom increased its spending in the UK by 187% between 2019 and 2023, for a total of £3.9 million. They have their sight on women’s rights. The profit-seeking manosphere gets rich from young men’s disenfranchisement. They blame women and feminism for the issues young men face. Meanwhile, the anti-rights movement invests millions of pounds to make changes through policy. Their goal is to rewrite who deserves dignity and freedom. Watching Louis Theroux's Into the Manosphere, it’s easy to see it as collection of individuals sharing hateful views. This is not just hate. It is an industry. But we know even the most organised money can’t win against organised people. The fightback is now.

Germaine Greer appeared on a talk show in 1979, seen in this segment from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) archives. In her response, she argues that we must “work towards a better world with faith and steadfastness.” Greer critiques what she sees as our “consumer mentality” about social change. - - - - - - - - - - “The alternative could be utter chaos and destruction. I can’t see it. I don’t see it in my lifetime. I don’t think that I own the revolution, or you do, or even our children. I think what we’ve got to do is work towards a better world with faith and steadfastness, and not say, after five years, ‘Well, it hasn’t worked and I’m not going on. Where’s the new world, please? I signed up for it five years ago and it’s not here.’ That’s consumer mentality, and I’m afraid most people have got it. When people are asking me for the answer, it’s still consumer mentality. It’s a strange thing about a society based on nonconformist religion that it goes about demanding heaven on earth all the time: ‘Tell us what you want us to do; we would see a sign.’ I’m European; I won’t do that. I live in cynicism as my intellectual medium—in that I swim.” - Germaine Greer, 1979
