Joy Reid: Republicans "only believe in reparations for white people. If they could go back and give the descendants of the Confederates reparations, they would. And [Trump's anti-weaponization fund] is basically them doing that."

Texas Republicans are in big trouble and their gerrymandered congressional map will backfire in November. Vote them all out.

@atensnut Oh, he’s a very effective leader for Leftists and Globalists. The weak, feckless description is not accurate. This bastard knows exactly what’s he’s doing and it’s intentional.

@alexstein99 You’re basically an idiot and completely off target. Also, these “brown” people you speak of know their own minds and don’t need YOU to tell them how to vote. Arrogant racist elitist…

Dear Texas evangelicals: If you think Ken Paxton is a better Christian than James Talarico, you have grievously misunderstood the gospel.

@SpeakTruthAndRH Worked to Thune to subvert conservative initiatives.. and block MAGA appointments and agenda on the Senate. Not really difficult to understand. And by the way, Texans have the right to vote for who we choose. Don’t need you to tell us who that should be.

Ok Texans, now that John Cornyn lost his primary, can you explain why he got voted out. Difficulty: can’t mention Trump. I’m genuinely curious.

Trump betrayed a decent, honorable man who had a 99.2 percent record of supporting him in the U.S. Senate. He destroyed the career of U.S. Senator Cornyn to elevate a dishonest, impeached and corrupt crook named Ken Paxton. (Google him. This guy is terrible.) When the President of the United States happily backs a bad man and throws a good man overboard, it sends a horrible message to the next generation. This president continues to do moral and ethical damage to the nation that will be hard to undo. Not surprised. But still disappointed in where GOP voters are.

John Cornyn, Bill Cassidy, and Thom Tillis have a lot of leverage against Donald Trump the next seven months.

Smart move by Talarico. He’s still an underdog (it’s Texas after all) but as of now, Paxton is so flawed that the Democrat has a fighting chance to win. I make this argument on Biblical grounds.
James Talarico@jamestalarico

I want to thank Senator John Cornyn for his years representing our state.  We don’t agree on everything, but we both still believe in public service. To Senator Cornyn’s supporters: you have a place in our campaign.

Every Texas Republican who lost tonight licked President Trump's boots, got nothing for it but betrayal, and is headed out to pasture. Make sure you feel it when the door hits you so you learn something this time.

Texas Republicans have long been among my favorite people. (I knew a lot of Bushies, back when.) (And Phil Gramm was just about my favorite politician.) Today, in their Senate primary, Texas Republicans have chosen a picture of degeneracy over a Trump-supporting incumbent who is, at bottom, responsible and decent. It’s like Republicans looked at Cornyn and said, “Nope. Not corrupt, crazy, or immoral enough.” In a democracy, we say who we are, with our votes. We show what we value. To some of us, recent years have been both illuminating and heartbreaking. I have had frequent occasion to use an old expression: “sadder but wiser.” I have not spoken like a populist. I’m not running for office. I don’t believe in “Vox populi, vox Dei.” In fact, I think that’s one of the most erroneous and disgusting notions ever conceived. I’m a writer, for better or worse. I have said what I think, even as I hope for a brighter morrow.
