The first day of our two-week festival began with, @ChristiGabbitas, who shared her Believe in Magic story, which highlights the town's rich cultural heritage and is set to be performed at @KingGeorgesHall on November 10th! Books were signed & gifted! Illustrated by Ursula Hurst.

A special thank you to our wonderful patron, Actress @4JennyAgutter OBE @ChildrensLFests, and to Louisa Maslin for her invaluable support with my book award project. 📚❤️ Over the next two weeks, I’ll be orchestrating the ninth Children & Young People’s Literature Festival in Blackburn with Darwen. Growing up, my local library was invaluable, reminding me of the power of words and stories, and the importance of having access to them. We’re very excited to welcome all of our authors and illustrators, especially @MichaelRosenYes , who will be the first author to perform at the @ExchangeBBurn since Charles Dickens! 🎭 This festival wouldn't be possible without the support of funding from @blackburndarwen, @CILIPSLG @LottoGoodCauses Community Fund, @TNLUK and so many more amazing organisations.

Loved my 6-mile jog surrounded by the beauty of trees and nature this morning! 🌳 #TreeClub 😁🏃🏼‍♀️ I'm gradually getting back up and running after recovering from an injury I sustained during the Hatton Park 10k (it was my slowest race ever, as I was in quite a bit of pain 🙈), but I persevered and crossed the finish line.🎖️ I’m raising funds to celebrate @NSPCC Childline's 40th birthday, I'm running 40 x 10k’s . Had a great meeting with Andrew and Adele from Blackburn with Darwen Libraries regarding the upcoming 9th children and young people's literature festival, featuring an incredible lineup of talented authors and illustrators. Additionally, I had a fantastic meeting at Blackburn Cathedral, that is a partial setting for my story "Believe in Magic." They now have signed copies of the book available at the cathedral, and I’m excited to be collaborating with them in the future. We also discussed my upcoming theatrical production of "Believe in Magic," which will be performed at the iconic King Georges Hall in Blackburn on November 10th. The sequel story that will be out on 21st November. More details coming soon! In light of the National Year of Reading, it’s more crucial than ever to champion the positive impact of books and reading in all its forms. Yesterday, I was proud to be presenting at my fourth National County Lines Coordination Centre (NCLCC) conference for the Yorkshire and Humber region, held at the Guildhall York. During my talk, I continued to highlight the positive outcomes of my early intervention work on county lines exploitation and associated crime in primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges, which i’ve been working on since 2019. It was rewarding and reassuring to receive positive feedback from delegates.

The sessions are already having a lasting impact. Here’s an entry i received this afternoon. I’m back in the school tomorrow with Y9 & 10. The sessions I conduct on county lines, related crime, and knife crime are not just a fleeting experience. They offer valuable insights and awareness through the art of storytelling.

Today, I was invited to speak at the National County Lines Coordination Centre (NCLCC) with South West Regional Organised Crime Unit @SWROCU conference held in Gloucester. This marks the third conference sharing my early intervention work for NCLCC. I was fortunate to connect with some incredible people during the event. It’s reassuring to know that we all share a common belief in the importance of early intervention, especially as children are increasingly becoming victims of exploitation at younger ages. I was shocked to learn that even six-year-olds are being targeted! Special mention to all speakers: @DrLBainbridge DC Paul Ben, Devon Cornwall Police, DC James Rudge Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, Escapeline, and Challenge Academy. Not forgetting Forensic Analytics Ltd, Gus the wellbeing dog @OscarKiloNine, and the inspirational Androulla (Andri) Vai Nicolaou @ASPolice who has been very supportive of my national initiative.
