Today is day 33 of the DHS shutdown.   TSA agents are overworked, understaffed, & our airports are chaos.   Our brave ICE agents defend our country every day & haven’t gotten a paycheck in over a month.   Once again, Democrats are putting pain on the American people just to make a political point.

Republicans have control in the House, Senate and the White House. They prove AGAIN they can't govern and are unwilling to compromise on a solution that could be solved TODAY. Republicans have BLOCKED legislation OVER SIX TIMES funding TSA, FEMA, Secret Service, Coast Guard and cybersecurity because Trump wants to continue his out-of-control ICE mercenary tactics many Americans want to change. Democrats want to have Republicans cooperate and continue funding for the Coast Guard, FEMA and the TSA while reviewing and changing the obviously illegal actions with how ICE is managed. Democrats are not simply opposing funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) itself. Their argument is that they will support funding only if certain changes are made to immigration enforcement policies, especially related to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and CBP (Customs and Border Protection). They are pushing for provisions such as: ▪️Court-issued warrants before ICE agents enter private property ▪️ICE agents must show clear identification and badge numbers ▪️Restrictions on ICE agents wearing masks ▪️Mandatory body cameras ▪️Stronger use-of-force rules ▪️Independent investigations of shootings by ICE/federal agents Republicans are holding up these basic requests because they have no problem with Trump mercenaries killing and arresting Americans.

These include harsh criminal penalties such as prison and fines for noncitizens who try to register or vote not to mention deportation. Despite that, some politicians have peddled the lie that noncitizens are voting in significant numbers and they’re using those claims in order to enact restrictive voting policies. These conspiracy theories are not harmless rhetoric. They are causing real damage to real people and to our democracy.
