What if one of the cheapest vegetables at the store quietly outperforms many supplements? 🥬
Raw green cabbage delivers nearly half your daily vitamin K in one serving. It’s also packed with prebiotic fiber to feed your gut bacteria and support immunity.
The Metabolic Edge:
Because it’s low-glycemic and high-volume, raw cabbage makes a perfect "metabolic snack" to keep you satiated and maintain steady blood sugar between meals. 📉
Action Plan:
Add a handful to your lunch this week — shred it into salads, tuck it into wraps, or stir it into soups.
What’s your favorite way to eat cabbage (or another underrated veggie)?

Raising prices with limited supply and excessive demand prevents hording,
Collecting data? You’re putting your data online as we speak with that devise in your hand….
Getting better prices based on your purchase history and your buying patterns isn’t a bad thing.
And this has everything to do with the NDP because those economically illiterate morons drive every moronic policy that screws people collectively. They could bankrupt a lemonade stand if you spotted them the labor, lemons and stand. These assholes should be nowhere near business let alone government!

On "surveillance pricing", Avi Lewis is right.
Food is not a luxury good. It’s a necessity. Pricing it based on personal data erodes trust, punishes vulnerability, and undermines the very notion of fairness in our food system.
Surveillance pricing—what some call “precise dynamic pricing”—has no place in food retail. When algorithms decide what you pay based on your data, it stops being a market and becomes discrimination. Two households, same product, different price? That’s not innovation—that’s inequity.
NDP@NDP
Corporations have found a creepy new way to rip you off. It's called "surveillance pricing" and it's coming for all of us at the checkout if we don't stop it. Add your name and help stop retailers from price-gouging us with the help of Big Tech: ndp.ca/surveillance-p…

Is your gut microbiome working for you or against you?
Most people obsess over protein but completely ignore the fiber gap. Science shows that consistent fiber intake doesn’t just "keep things moving."
It’s a metabolic powerhouse that feeds beneficial bacteria to sharpen your immunity and stabilize your energy.
Stop overcomplicating your nutrition. These 6 pantry staples are backed by RDNs for a reason:
Pulses (Beans/Lentils): The "Queens" of the pantry. A single cup of cooked lentils delivers 16g of fiber, crushing inflammation and supporting healthy cholesterol.
Oats: Rich in beta-glucan, a specific fiber that acts like a sponge, soaking up cholesterol in the digestive tract before it hits your bloodstream.
Nuts & Seeds: Chia and flax are prebiotic goldmines. They don't just add crunch; they fuel the gut-brain axis for improved mood and focus.
Prunes: Not just for "regularity." They are antioxidant-dense candy substitutes that protect bone density via Vitamin K.
Popcorn: A high-volume, polyphenol-packed snack that delivers 3.5g of fiber per serving for under 100 calories. Air pop and avoid microwave popcorn.
The Payoff:
You don't need expensive specialty supplements to transform your gut health. Optimize your pantry with these humble foods that won't break the bank.

@PierrePoilievre I agree, this should be settled in a general election, fair n square.
English

Mark Carney is seizing a costly Liberal majority that voters denied him, and doing so through backroom deals.
In January, MP Gladu said that floor crossers should face voters in a byelection to give voters the final say. I could not agree more.
She should do so. The people in her community voted for our Conservative vision of a Canada that is affordable, safe, and strong at home, not for the costly Liberal government she has now joined.
She should honour her word and let voters decide.

@DrKristieLeong Add to the mix that modern factory farmed brocolli has lost its nutrients by 35%.
How i eat is; slice it, place it flat side down in my cast iron pan, after the Maillard reaction kicks in add oniou, garlic, salt, pepper, curry powder and chilli 🌶 flakes.
English

Want to get the most benefits from brocolli?
The enzyme myrosinase converts glucosinolates, natural compounds in broccoli, to sulforaphane, compounds with anti-inflammatory activity.
Because myrosinase is heat-sensitive, cooking reduces the amount of sulforaphane your body produces compared to eating broccoli and other crucifers raw.
Fortunately, gut microbes provide a partial backup, enabling some sulforaphane production from cooked vegetables, though less efficiently.
🥦 Best Way to Prepare Broccoli (and
Lightly steam cruciferous vegetables for about three minutes to preserve enzyme activity.
Avoid boiling, microwaving, or pressure cooking, as these methods destroy up to 90% of glucosinolates needed to generate sulforaphane.
You can also eat broccoli raw in salads.
What’s your favorite way to prepare broccoli?

@DrKristieLeong And its the Canadians who found the way to keep apples fresh allowing a free flow of apples year around.
English

That "fresh" apple at the grocery store might be older than your favorite pair of jeans. 🍎
Most supermarket apples are 6–12 months old. Growers hold them in "stasis" using 1-methylcyclopropene gas. This stops them from ripening, and rotting, long after they leave the tree.
The Reality Check:
✅ Appearance does not always equate with nutrients.
✅ Cold storage preserves the crunch but drains the phytonutrients.
✅ The "fresh" wax coating often hides a year of storage.
Action Plan:
Stop buying "off-season" fruit that’s been in a gas chamber for 300 days. Shop at your local farmers' market and eat what’s in season.

Breaking Tradition: IT Candidate in Frame for SriLankan Airlines CEO Role
SriLankan Airlines is edging closer to appointing its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO), with four candidates, three foreign nationals and one Sri Lankan now shortlisted for final interviews in the coming days. The selection process has been conducted by a five-member evaluation panel.
According to a report by ‘The Leader’ website the sole Sri Lankan candidate in the final lineup is Chamindra Lenawa, an information technology professional who currently heads a private IT firm based in Kazakhstan. He previously served at Air Astana, where he held the position of VP - IT & eBusiness from January 2011 to September 2023, after earlier roles as Director - IT & eCommerce and Manager - IT Business Systems.
The strong presence of foreign candidates on the shortlist has raised eyebrows, particularly given the NPP government’s earlier public stance on prioritising local talent for senior leadership roles. Should a foreign national ultimately be selected, the decision may invite questions regarding policy consistency.
The process has also reignited discussion surrounding the 2025 removal of former CEO Richard Nuttall, who was widely regarded as having delivered strong operational performance during his tenure.
Notably, if Lenawa is selected, it would mark a rare departure from traditional airline leadership trends. Historically, airline CEOs have predominantly emerged from operational (pilot) or financial (CFO) backgrounds, with appointments from IT and digital leadership domains remaining uncommon.
Final interviews are expected to be held shortly in Colombo, with a decision anticipated soon thereafter.
