Former Superintendent of Education, NC
"Ms. Truitt, you obviously weren't surprised to find students with a reduced academic achievement when they weren't in school. But rather than complaining about it and blaming people, you focused on actually doing something about it." - Rep @BobbyScott #nced #ncpol

For me one of the greatest intangible rewards is the opportunity to make connections with students and feel like you were part of helping them grow. When I bump into former students, and hear how they are doing it makes me feel SO happy! #ed204questions

What are some of the intangible rewards of teaching? Also what keeps teachers motivated to push through especially during a time like this? #ED204questions #teachertwitter

Here’s a picture of the Johnson County Board of Commissioners which voted to withhold $7.9m in funding to force its schools to adopt a policy that teachers could be fired for teaching that systemic racism is real. #nced #ncpol

@janakirovska You still do not get it! Basically, the world uses your straighten hair as the middle class value they expect. It’s a form of discrimination.

@HeatherTDay Straighting your hair is your issue, not of others. But it really is not an issue itself, most people adjust their look so to be perceved by others in a certain way, culture, fashon, call it however you like, it’s not a form of oppression

I made fresh collard greens for the first time today. That would have never happened without my local CSA (community supported agriculture) Box!

Documents would be useful! However, who actually cared enough about what black people thought to document the marginalized group in 1619. This is a case where the victors are telling the story....and there are few artifacts to either way to prove either side.

COLUMN: Maybe the 1619 Project has some validity. But I also agree with the critics. Don’t mangle the facts. Why not just turn to the documents? bit.ly/2Xr6JIK

But was this the intention of the project?
E🚀L🚀O🚀N@DGEMASTELON

@RealClearNews @IngrahamAngle @RCPACivics 1619 Project fails to acknowledge some highly inconvenient facts about slavery of Africans, such as over 96% of African slaves went to Latin America and the Caribbean, and that the whole slave trade happened thanks to black Africans who readily sold other blacks on the market.

What made the world grapple with so much unrest in the 70s? The spread of democracy; education made people think they could all have the same rights.-Dr. Kumashiro
