@jrodbourn Safety issue. Otherwise incentive for players who have been hit on the head to continue. Injury like Hammie does not allow a sub.

@AdamKerrBell In he 80's we use to your Aus most years in WSC, getting used to the heat, wickets and pressured env, nowadays NZ players spend lots of time in eng ( county cricket, the hundred) and sub continent ( lots of tours, IPL). Aus is hard for NZ due to lack of exposure.

NZ should competitive against Australia next summer.
They have a good group of fast bowlers that should suit Australian conditions.
Like most touring teams, it will be whether they can handle the pressure cooker of playing in Australia.
Danny Ando@AndoDanny
In the last 2 years NZ has won in India and in England. Something Australia hasn't managed in over 20 years. Yet people continue to underrate them. They'll be far more competitive out here this Summer than England were last year #NZvENG

@Cricket_Ali Being a pace bowling all rounder esp one who can bowl at 140kph requires huge physical prep. Esp with injuries it becomes harder he is not coming back.
English

@StephenMossGdn Boycott had his own arguments with English MGMT and missed many tours and years of cricket.

@TUnlimitedd The current pace attack is world class, maybe it has a good batting team then it can be competitive. Roach great servant.

Appreciation post on the legendary Kemar Roach 🚨
Hearty congratulations to the modern day legend Kemar Roach on completing 300+ test wickets. That is an unbelievable achievement for someone who has unfortunately got to play in the worst era of Windies Cricket.
When he burst on the scene I remember how he made Ricky Ponting look clueless and really made him look like a tailender.
He made top batters look very ordinary.
He had a horrible ankle injury in late 2014 coupled with a car accident which nearly cost his life.
He contemplated thoughts on retiring but decided to do something which he hasn't done in his professional career at that point which is to make the transition from fast to medium pace which required lot of technical tweaks in his bowling action and had to practise for a year to finally be in rythmn and be comfortable with his new bowling action.
He sacrificed his pace for good linr and length coupled with swing and seam movement.
This man is a real workhorse and sadly doesn't get spoken about cause Windies have a been a poor test team and he has been surrounded with very mediocre cricketers. He has been one of the few shining lights for Windies in their dark phase.
He has sacrificed a lot of t20 cricket just to keep himself fit and available for County and Test Cricket.
Enjoy the celebrations Kemar! 🍺 🍻 Keep on inspiring people

Thinking NZ doesn't really care about the respect bit just as long as they win
James Corrigan (never had a blue tick)@jcorrigangolf
This Ben Stokes retirement in the middle of a Test is so performative. They actually just announced it over the Trent Bridge tannoy. It’s actually disrespectful to New Zealand.
English

@FreyaWoods8 I think you have bought the most important point. The all whites all wore them as well. What are they? And where can you get them from?
English

@ChrisDoughty32 Geoff got pissed of with eng MGMT and missed lots of tours. It is not a new thing with English cricket.
English

@TheJemmaZone Long long way to go in the test. England have very good batters and very good bowlers. They are also in transition.

@AlexanderAuty @petetweetsshit There is a pro team in chch in the Oceania league although that league may be semi pro. Also an Aucks team in that league.
English

@petetweetsshit Need more pathways, need a south island a league club asap

@FlawlessCLM Good quality opposition for friendlies are all well and fine, but I just feel like we need more competitive matches in order to take it to the next level.
Qualifying for the World Cup this time was a nice feeling and all, but qualifying against Bahrain was unreal! I want that!
English

I really want this to happen, but it won't.
1 | NZF won't give up their meal ticket. Even with improvement from the island nations, we will go to the world cup every four years = $$$
2 | AFC don't want us.
3 | Could be some merit in aligning with East Asia if they split AFC.

If anything, today's game shows you exactly why NZ Football needs to get into the AFC asap

@MonnyDachismo @YoungHeartHM Formation does not help if you are unable to control the ball and keep the ball. With 48 teams we will have players who have the exp next WC. Need more pros playing in higher level. Looking forward to the next 4 years for Just. Class player
English

@boundednz @YoungHeartHM 3-4-2-1, 3 CB's helps against overload, the WG backs provides a width which was non existent. Look at the subs and it was a variation of swapping out the same players. Gave three full games to Wood, no attempt to mix it up upfront or keep the player fresh.
