Apple banned some Beeper user Mac computers, New York Times investigated, Apple unbanned. The saga continues! Even after we've shifted our energy from iMessage back to our core Beeper product (15 network universal chat app), Apple cannot seem to get enough! Here's the TLDR:

@onbeeper They say they "took steps to protect our users" but what they did was punish their users for the sin of wanting a better and more secure experience talking to friends and family.

@onbeeper Apple's actions are absolutely disgraceful, nerfing hardware their own customers paid them thousands of dollars for, without warning, evidence, or explanation.

America is in the middle of a full-blown housing crisis. There are a lot of ways to measure it, but I’ll start with the most basic: We are 7 million units short of what we need to house people. What can we do? Increase the housing supply. It's plain old Econ 101.

Apple appears to be deliberately blocking iMessages from being delivered to ~5% of Beeper Mini users. Uninstalling and reinstalling Beeper Mini fixes the issue. We won't have a fix tonight, but we're working on it.

Beeper testified at a hearing I held on the impact of monopoly power on innovation, and now we are seeing that impact in real time. Apple is blocking their app that increases choice and convenience. We must pass my bipartisan legislation to stop this anticompetitive abuse.

Green bubble texts are less secure. So why would Apple block a new app allowing Android users to chat with iPhone users on iMessage? Big Tech executives are protecting profits by squashing competitors. Chatting between different platforms should be easy and secure.

In the meantime, we have deregistered your phone numbers from iMessage so your friends can still text you. Sorry, you’re temporarily a green bubble again 😞 Annoyingly, the iPhone Messages app ‘remembers’ that you were a blue bubble for 6-24 hours before falling back to SMS, so it’s possible that some messages will not be delivered during this period. Also, we are extending all 7 day trial by one additional week. I just want to say thank you for bearing with us through this wild day (week!). I feel awful about important messages you may have missed today because our iMessage connection stopped working. My sincere apologies for this. Tomorrow is a new day. Onwards!
