@JacobRobinsonJD do you think there'll be a tipping point where legal systems update to be more compatible with alegal digital infra? or too radical?

i've appreciated the luxury of using stablecoins from reputable, regulated issuers for years, but things are gonna start getting complicated

Can you launch a token in Canada? The final part of my 26000 word series explains why the answer is far more often yes than no.

@tbpn @cz_binance beyond gambling on tokens, no discerning org will adopt blockchain tech until their transaction data's secure (private)

Binance CEO @cz_binance says the crypto industry is too transparent: "I think right now the crypto industry is too transparent. It's actually extremely easy to track crypto funds. The blockchain is a public ledger. If you couple that with a few centralized exchanges, KYC information, you can track most of the transactions pretty accurately. So I think right now there's a lack of preserving of privacy." "For example, if your company pays everybody in crypto and if you get one payment today on the blockchain, you can just trace to the address that paid you and see how many addresses that address paid in the last week, then you can figure out everybody's salary. That's a privacy issue." "Another example, if you pay for a hotel [in crypto], then people will know that you're going to stay at that hotel, which for some people may create security issues. So there's little problems like those that are not solved yet."

That’s why Telegram Secret Chats never show message content in push notifications. Since 2013, Secret Chats have remained the most secure usable way to communicate. US gov funded Signal has too many questionable dependencies on other US companies (AWS, MS, Intel SGX…)
International Cyber Digest@IntCyberDigest

🚨 BREAKING: The FBI has successfully extracted deleted Signal messages from a suspect's iPhone via notification storage, the place where all your notifications are stored for up to one month. Notification storage stores data from all messaging apps, it's a big flaw in iOS. But there's a way to turn it off...

I'm very worried that there are effectively no politically pluralistic online platforms left. Everyone goes deeper and deeper into their filter bubbles. No one tries to understand the other. Loneliness, cynicism, and xenophobia win the day. Civility, we hardly knew thee, adieu.

Leaving the hearing on @rstormsf's motion for acquittal, the only thing that was clear to me is that the government still does not understand the tech at issue. The lack of nuance, the misrepresentations about how a UI functions, and the equivocation between different technologies is really disheartening at this point in the case. The arguments SDNY advanced at this hearing on the application of Section 1960 are limitless and dangerous for all software developers. It was good to see the judge digging in and asking detailed questions, but there is no way to predict how she will rule on Storm's motion. Given that she was focused on dates for retrial at end of 2026, I think we can expect to see the case continue.

My high school girlfriend died a couple years ago. We hadn't seen each other in like twenty years but we reconnected a couple times here and there. It still feels kinda surreal. Like, she could have lived for decades longer. And it kinda makes me miss her more. Before she died, it was still like "hey this cool person is still out there, having a life, hope she's doing well" But now her journey is fully over. I'm not going to say something cliché like "death is what gives life meaning" but it does serve as a definitive bookend. She was the one who introduced me to stuff like Ghost in the Shell, which has had a huge impact on my writing, and other parts of my work. Miss you Becca.

@ChainLinkGod @DeFi_EzR3aL @chaoslabs from the outside it seemed like Labs pushed out the service providers and took control of the DAO, so i've it helpful to have a bit of additional context surfaced esp as a builder who plans to use Aave v4. thanks!

This goes beyond simple mistakes and poor comms, Chaos Labs has shown a pattern of toxic behavior in actively undermining their partners and clients Why should Chaos be free to gaslight people about their intentions toward Aave and attack/undermine Chainlink repeatedly, but I can’t call attention to that behavior? I don’t see these behaviors as equivalent at all, it’s worthy a couple tweets talking about it, especially since Chaos purposely helped fuel the public dogpile on Aave to save face And def not saying Chainlink is perfect either, there are always improvements to be made and mistakes to learn from, but what I’m highlighting is that Chaos has shown themselves to be an unreliable partner A warning that people can choose to listen to or to ignore

So let me get this straight @chaoslabs screws up a risk oracle CAPO config for Aave and causes $25M (10,938 wstETH) in false liquidations Then Chaos goes to Aave and asks for $8M and to become the exclusive price oracle provider (push out Chainlink), the exclusive risk manager (push out LlamaRisk), and the exclusive vault provider Aave says no but offers a ~2x budget increase to $5M anyways to cover their work for the new V4 markets Chaos says no and decides to walk away as they were leaving the risk business anyways But not before making a dramatic public exit saying they’re leaving Aave based on “principles” and torching the relationship in the most unrecoverable manner as possible Genuinely, why would anyone want to work with this company after seeing how horribly they treat their clients and partners? Not the first time they’ve tried to rewrite history or undermine Chainlink like this btw

@L0laL33tz do you think Iran will stop accepting btc if the US sanctions on Iran are lifted? but yeah, agree. it's too easy for assets on transparent ledgers to become socially non-fungible

Iran demanding payment in bitcoin in the Strait of Hormuz is not the win you think it is. "Terrorist financing" is the one major concern that will push CLARITY Act DeFi discussions on KYC/AML over the edge. And the biggest terrorist there is, according to the US, is the very country now demanding payment in BTC – explicitly to bypass sanctions and confiscation. If you KYC every endpoint, BTC can be confiscated just as well as any other asset on earth: through the threat of force and violence. Ensuring freedom of transaction in the US (and arguably anywhere else) just became a hell of a lot harder.
