If you want to know why having the girl guide single sex is so important, aside from the obvious safeguarding reasons, research shows boys dominate shared spaces as early as primary school.
Often being more physical, louder and stronger they take up more space and make more noise (this is also a good reason for boys to have their own things).
Being a woman or a girl is like being a cyclist on a busy road with car traffic. We need our own ‘cycle lanes’ to be visible and safe.
Along with Girl Guides and Boy Scouts, there has always been mixed sex groups too.
