Mumbai: It Took a Foreigner to Show the Dirt We’ve Normalised for Years
A blogger from Finland has brought attention to the condition of railway tracks and nearby areas in Mumbai through a video that is now going viral on social media. The video shows garbage, poor sanitation and neglected surroundings along parts of the railway corridor, highlighting concerns about cleanliness and public hygiene. The foreign visitor’s footage has sparked fresh debate online about urban infrastructure, waste management and the need for better maintenance of public spaces. Many users have urged authorities to take immediate steps to improve conditions and maintain the city’s image.

🔥 We took the bullets. They hired the lawyers.
The Govt just spent ₹244 CRORE in legal fees to fight its own soldiers in court.
The goal?
To stop them from getting benefits worth just ₹109 CRORE.
They literally paid lawyers 2.2x MORE, just to deny justice to our troops.
Taxpayer money burned.
Heroes harassed.
Bureaucracy 1, Logic 0.

About time Mumbai citizens understand that not asking questions has consequences.
Horrible AQI, dug-up roads, ridiculous metro planning, people falling off local trains - we somehow put up with too much.

Plight of Mumbaikars nowadays-
Can't travel safely by local trains as you may fall from it due to overcrowding and missing doors.
Can't travel by metros because it is still under construction (for most lines)
Can't use BEST buses as the number of buses have reduced.
Can't walk safely as footpaths are either absent or encroached.
Can't travel safely by road because you never know what will fall on you and end your life.

Mumbai is the MOST corrupt city in India probably by a huge margin. The commercial capital of India has the worst roads (have seen village roads in almost every Indian state in the last 2 years and they are better), atrocious urban planning, & complete disregard for human life.

BREAKING ⚠️
No bulldozers at VIP Lamborghini coward Shivam Mishra’s house in UP’s Kanpur, despite police left pleading at the gates for access to question him.
30 hours after he mowed people down & was rescued by his bouncers, nothing.

Take a moment to read the post and see the video, and value these little snippets of these pleasant stories from Manipur.
A budding journalist friend of mine visited #Manipur, and came across this amazing story of Lilika Devi, a child prodigy in singing, but blind by birth, in a remote village in Manipur.
When he enquired more, he found that the blind school she’s studying in, had been adopted by @official_dgar at Pallel, and they have been trying their best to nurture and support these children. Lilika, I’m sure one day will find her place in greatest singers of this country, due to these efforts.
In times like these, when we hear only about violence and chaos in Manipur, such stories are heart warming, and reinstate our faith in the Assam Rifles - the true sentinels of the North East.
I’m going to tag many celebrities, HNIs, officials etc in this post hoping someone steps up and helps Lilika. From my side, I’m sending a karaoke system for her so she can keep practising at home :)

An ode to Sunil Grover.
It took 15 years for Sunil Grover to become an overnight success.
Trend on Twitter.
This man has given a completely new meaning to the word "Behrupiya."
He doesn't just mimic voices
He doesn't just copy mannerisms.
This guy embodies personalities - even their eye movement!
He embodies and becomes the same actor in different roles. Like he can do the SRK of Dear Zindagi, different from SRK of Jawaan.
His range?
Unimaginable. You have to be mad to be do what he does.
All three Khans. Multiple versions of Aamir, SRK.
Diamond Raja.
Lovely Gutthi.
Rajamouli (seriously?)
Akshay Kumar (wow!)
Even freaking Gulzar (my jaw dropped)
And many more (Kapil Dev??) - ok I'll stop.
He has just outperformed everyone in mimicry.
Not by copying. By becoming.
In fact this cannot even be called mimicking.
This can be probably called "embodying" or maybe one day "Grovering"
👉👉👉 But here's what people miss.
Sunil Grover is 48 years old today.
It took him an insane 15 years of hard work before people noticed his brilliance on the Kapil Sharma Show.
He perseveed, struggled through roles as barber, driver, actor's friend, constable. Small roles. Just grinding for 15 years patiently.
Yes - a few of us know him for his SRK spoofs. I remember him for his "Hansee ke Fuware" radio stint as Sud. But that was just another actor. Struggling. Waiting.
How he shaped himself in these years - and became what he has become today - is unbelievable and inspiring. 15 years of work you never saw.
PS: Wait to get floored by Sunil Grover "grovering" Akshaye Khanna soon. I am sure he is preparing for it as we speak. When Dhurandhar hits Netflix?
PS: I usually don't write about anything apart from insurance here, but I as a person am amazed by stories of perseverence and mastery over time. I have been reading about his journey for months now. So this had to be written :)

How long do you think HDFC Bank will take to transfer the money from your account to your nominee's after you die? Public sector banks get a bad rap, but it's been more than a year and we have not been able to get funds transferred from my now deceased husband's account in the country's largest private bank.
The nominee is our adult daughter, there are no conflicting claims, the paperwork is clear, and yet for more than a year now HDFC has been giving us the run around. Get this paper, get that paper. Each time my daughter comes home for holidays, we have to take 2 days out to go and wait at the bank branch. Today, more than a year after the first application, they said
a) we can't find the paperwork including the death certificate you submitted because the employee you submitted to is not here
b) you have to get a stamp paper and notarise it for the auto debits that hit his account between the date of his death and the date the account was frozen (on the basis of the paperwork in point a, now non-traceable)
c) you have to get HDFC Standard life to sign off because there is an auto debit for an investment from his account. (ME: they are the payee, he is the payer, why does the payee need to approve stopping a standing instruction? Bank: Hamare main aise hi hai). If you wait for 30 minutes, we'll get you the form.
d) after 30 minutes. Sorry, we can't get the form, you have to go to their office and do it.
By now it is 2.45 PM, HDFC Standard life office is at least 35 minutes away. They are open only till 3.30 PM. We are not sure we'll make it there on time. I call their number to ask if the branch is open tomorrow. Person: Sorry, I can't give you the information today, you will have to call and check tomorrow. (To repeat: HDFC Standard Life's call centre cannot tell you if a branch is working or not the following day)
In all, we have spent many hours over many months trying to get this money in a case the bank officials themselves say "should not be complicated". What is worse is for my 20-year-old daughter to relive the trauma of losing her father each time we have to go and explain the case. Just today, we had to speak to three different people and start the story from the beginning. This is not just the bank's inefficiency, it is its utter callousness. (My husband also had money in Indusind Bank. It took one visit and two weeks for that to be transferred).
The other, more important point, is that I have a job, we have the money to continue to pay for our needs without having to immediately access these funds. But I am certain that is not the case for many others. What about them? How can this be the system of a bank whose customers are dependent on it for giving them access to their own money?! It beggars belief.
