@BHAHorseracing Why would you think that a horse that has run once in two years and fell was a suitable horse for the GN ?

Possibly the strongest reply of 100+ to my several tweets on the subject of Townend's ride. This cover-up has riled an awful lot of peole who have followed racing all their lives. Flogging a fatally injured horse just doesn't seem right to so many of us.
my name is jeff@dazzler316

@WeaverRacing I would take the race win off them. Doesn't feel right that the horse is dead and victory is celebrated. I would give it to 2nd

@racingoncourse @NewtonAbbotRace It was good to see such a healthy crowd. Not one word about the dreadful scenes in the bumper. How many casual visitors will carry that as their memory ?

First they came for greyhound racing, next they will come for horse racing. Then they’ll want to ban humans eating meat and then they’ll ban travel and then…. The vampires want to run our lives. Fight back. Ban politicians.
GB News@GBNEWS

‘Greyhound racing has the highest welfare standard of any sport that involves animals!’ Chairman of the Greyhound Board of Great Britain Philip Davies slams the prospect of greyhound racing being banned, as the Welsh government votes to ban the sport.

@alanjohnsy Positively dangerous IMO wonder how many horses were injured as a result of the unnecessary strain ?

No wonder the bend before 2 out on the Chase course was riding tight, virtually a 90 degree turn. Surely the rails should cut the corner more to allow a much smoother turn?

@EnzymeQ10 @geoffbanksbet Backlash from whom ? Someone who had lost a fiver ? This ride will hurt racing for a long time. And yes of course I hope the jockey is supported. How many rides will he lose ?

@samcarsonps @geoffbanksbet It was subjective and the rider would have received a lot of backlash had he PU the horse. As for 'inappropriate punishment', it's worth looking at all the young jockeys who commit suicide due, before the 'be kind' brigade cause more.

British racing has reached a unique moment We can't stop horse deaths, even if miniscule by comparison to the total racehorse and greyhound population (who face same threat) Appeasement is a slow death for both codes. Even 1 horse death would be suffice for these warped activists seeking self gratification with virtue sigannlong posts What should we defend? The 71,000 racehorses and 7000 dogs The 6 million who attend The 5 million who love to bet on it The 105,000 who work in the industry The 46,000 who work in betting shops The culture of the nation The rights of people to go racing, or bet on it The right of animals to run The protection of both species Looking at these facts - should we not be on the offence against ignorance?

@DashStud @BlueFoster16 I defend NH whenever I can. It is impossible in this case. The ban is nowhere near appropriate.

@BlueFoster16 A) he wasn’t at Cheltenham b) the Jockey was immediately banned because all agree it was dreadful to see c) the horse is back home and perfectly ok - i.e. not killed as you erroneously state

I’d love to know if any golf rules experts think there are mistakes in the rules? I’ve got a feeling whenever we think a rule is bad we probably just don’t understand it🤔 Making the rules fair, etc must be difficult given all possibilities Any experts out there got opinions to share? Would love to hear from referees or anyone extremely knowledgeable on rules. Tag anyone you know who could weigh in. Might save us moaning about rules we think are bad but really aren’t.

Jockeys swear at each other - who knew? It's top-level, high-pressure professional sport. Always found it weird how people presume they're all mates. Plenty of tear ups behind closed doors, I'd say.

Why some change with this as the end goal is necessary…. •Willie Mullins has more entries in 4 races than the entire number of GB entries (Supreme, Brown Advisory, Ryanair, Triumph) •GB has more entries than Ireland in only 8 races and they’re handicaps *before Tuesday decs
Samantha Martin@sam_angelina22

Yes, this is a kick in the teeth for smaller connections and I hope that the BHA have an initiative in mind for them, but this in principle is not a terrible idea. Yes, the owners who will win this don’t need the money, but this particular part grapples with a genuine issue.

@sam_angelina22 @saraespratt But they won’t will they ? The voucher will be used against a horse that was coming anyway. Why would a 20k voucher influence where a 300k horse was trained?

@saraespratt If JP and the Donnellys choose to use the credit and have another horse in Britain, that is one MORE potentially good horse in a British trainer’s yard.

@LydiaHislop @rp_bloodstock Quite a few, including in racing, seemed to think it was ok to get your earnings as never to be repaid loans. Whilst still claiming to “support” the NHS etc. Greed pure and simple. Bankrupt used to mean just that , now it’s just manoeuvring assets.

@sam_angelina22 Exactly so they will use them for horses that they were going to send to UK anyway, which they do every year to replenish their stock. They are not going to send a grade one winning horse trained by Mr Mullins because of a 10k voucher. I get the thought process. Cheers.

British Horseracing Authority@BHAHorseracing

The BHA has introduced a new Training Fees Credit Scheme that will see winning and runner-up owners in Grade 1 Chase and Hurdle races in March and April receive credits to be redeemed against the training fees of a new British-trained horse. Full details: britishhorseracing.com/press_releases…
