“Where the body of the people, or any single man, is deprived of their right, or is under the exercise of a power without right, & have no appeal on earth, then they have a liberty to appeal to heaven” — John Locke’s Second Treatise of Government (1689), Chapter XIX

urdu has a word for the pain of separation that contains, within it, the assumption that reunion is cosmically possible. while english is so spiritually bankrupt it can name the ache but not imagine its end.

@saph_podcast @koutchoukalimar By saying what you just said. Though calling a language “uninteresting” is already a silly enough stance where you maybe don’t have the linguistic background needed to be dolling out judgements of them

@koutchoukalimar But how do you explain the fact that my language is prosaic and uninteresting while other languages are romantic and exotic and unfamiliar?

@chmpgnsoshalist No one is erasing Urdu. Other regions of the world have different languages with different teleological embeddings. It’s not unique to Urdu or to any one language.

ہاہاہا زہے نصیب the only problem is the tweet wasn’t made by a colonizer justifying erasure. applying the colonial discourse critique symmetrically, as if it doesn’t matter who is speaking or from what position, flattens the whole point of positionality, which is supposedly what
شرق‌زده sharghzadeh@sharghzadeh

This may sound de-colonial and woke, but this discourse was created by colonizers to justify language erasure and genocide. That Urdu word (hijr) is a loan from Persian, which itself came from Arabic, so English can also borrow the word and not be spiritually bankrupt.

.@GovPritzker, I saw your post honoring lives lost in Minnesota—standing publicly, naming Alex Pretti and Renee Good, and laying flowers in their memory. But where was that same compassion on January 19, 2025? That is the day my 20-year-old daughter, Katie Abraham, was killed here in Illinois. She was innocent. She did not knowingly put herself in the middle of an ongoing law enforcement situation. She was not making a dangerous choice. She was simply living her life—and it was taken from her. You have never said her name. You have never come to where she died. You have never acknowledged her publicly. And beyond that—you have never even responded to me. I sent you a simple, non-political letter. Not for attention. Not for headlines. Just a father asking for clarity, for answers, and for understanding of the state’s position. You never replied. And now, in the wake of another tragedy here in Chicago, your public display of compassion elsewhere—while remaining silent about victims in your own state—feels deeply disconnected from the reality families like mine are living every day. Instead, you continue to defend sanctuary policies that create the conditions where preventable tragedies like hers can happen. This is not about politics. It’s about leadership and accountability. When you choose to publicly mourn some victims while remaining silent about others—especially those lost under policies you support—it sends a message. Whether intentional or not, it tells families like mine that our loss does not matter the same way. So I am asking you directly: Where is your compassion for my daughter? Where is your acknowledgment of victims here in Illinois? And when will you take responsibility for the consequences of the policies you defend? Say her name: Katie Abraham. Stand where she died. Show the people of Illinois that every life matters.
Governor JB Pritzker@GovPritzker

Standing with Minnesotans tonight and paying my respects to Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

Ending our involvement in Iran is a must. So far 13 Americans have died, and that’s 13 too many. I’m excited to see what kind of deal is being struck, hopefully one that is not only a win for the United States, but one that opens up the people of Iran to a bright future.

@romanhelmetguy Tucker is saying that a functioning, thriving, self-confident society can tolerate diversity in a way a chaotic, decaying, and self-hating society cannot. Generally speaking, Tucker is correct.

Oh my God. @TuckerCarlson is now claiming that Islamic terrorists engage in terrorism and are radicalized because of “colonialism”. Uh, pretty sure Mohammed was enslaving non-Muslims, massacring Jews and Christians, and raping kids long before colonialism ever existed. Tucker Carlson is literally justifying ISIS and Al Qaeda by blaming “colonialism”. He is a straight up Islamic jihadist sympathizer. Very dangerous. I won’t stop saying it: his son works in the White House and yes, I am bothered by that. I am very bothered by all of this.

Marine Raider Aaron Sekulov is only 35 years old. He has served in the shadows as a critical skills operator, in places across the world, doing what less than 0.1% of the world can or will do.  In January 2026, he was diagnosed with one of the most deadly forms of cancer - Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow in which abnormal white blood cells multiply rapidly and crowd out healthy blood-forming cells. The treatment for AML is to literally wipe out all leukemia cells in the bone marrow through chemotherapy. Because chemotherapy does not discriminate, it will kill all "protective" cells, placing Aaron at an incredibly high risk for fungal, bacterial, and viral infections, making this phase of treatment one of the most dangerous. Once the leukemia cells are destroyed, Aaron will be given a bone marrow / stem cell transplant from a healthy donor (if you haven't registered yet to swab for Aaron, you can do so here: Swab for Aaron!) While Aaron has coverage through TRICARE as he is still currently serving as a Marine Corps reservist, many things targeted towards a successful, clean, infection-free lifestyle is not. Here are some of the needs for Aaron and where exactly these funds will be used (invoices and receipts produced for reimbursement): - $1,600 / month for apartment minutes from U of M Cancer Center for 8 months = $12,800 - $825 to clean air ducts in home to reduce mold / infection exposures (at least quarterly) = $1,650 - $2,300 for central air filter upgrade (HEPA quality) = $2,300 - $260 for upholstered furniture cleaning (at least quarterly) = $520 - $1,700 for rower/assault bike combo for home during quarantine period = $1,700 - $1,500 incline-capable treadmill for home during quarantine period = $1,500 - $10,656 for Sun Home Red light & infrared Sauna for quarantine period detox. = $10,656 - $500+/- for dietary-restricted foods (Neutropenic diet) while in treatment / quarantine (as live plants, fresh fruit, veggies carry extreme risks, Aarons diet needs to be high in protein and calories) = $3,000 - $1,000 for travel expenses / gas to-and-from treatment for Kelley and Aaron = $1,000 Totaling approximately $34,126 - all additional funds will be used for Aaron and Kelley's needs throughout his treatment and recovery. How you can help power the mission to save Aarons life: 1Donate: Every dollar counts in helping Aaron survive. Contribute now to help Aaron. 2Share: Share our campaign with your friends, family, and on social media, be sure to tag @H7Foundation 3Swab for Aaron: Consider completing a swab through DKMS, or Salute to Life (if you are active duty). Thank you for supporting Aaron and Kelley, your support is invaluable and truly lifechanging.
