@GovTimWalz Who let the guy who oversaw hundreds of millions in child care fraud into a classroom? I sure as hell wouldn't want him near my kids. Minnesota voters keep finding out.

It takes a village - often an entire state – to support our children with resources like child care, education, and safe spaces to play and grow. Grateful to Piedmont Elementary School for hosting us to discuss our plan to lower the cost of child care by up to $6,000 per family.

6-8 people in a room isn't "community organizing", it's a coffee klatch. While you're rallying the base in Bemidji, Minnesota taxpayers are on the hook for up to $9 billion in fraud across Medicaid, Feeding Our Future, housing, and autism programs under DFL watch. Dozens of guilty pleas, warnings ignored for decades, and now federal funds are getting clawed back. How about a plan to actually stop the bleeding instead of more "better future" speeches? Minnesotans deserve accountability, not more of the same.

I was with a great group of DFLers in Bemidji. Across Minnesota, people are organizing, talking to their neighbors, and bringing people together for a better future for all of us.

Whoever is advising @EFF on social strategy should be fired. Their reach on their X account is 13.3x larger than on their Instagram account—and on 228x larger than their TikTok account. If they want their foundation to have an impact on the global conversation, the only place is on X.

After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue. 🧵(1/5)

🚨 BREAKING: The Minneapolis City Council moves forward with the potential legalization of "adult bathhouses and sex venues." "The 1988 ban wasn't a neutral policy. It was written during a moral panic targeting gay men," says Council Member Jason Chavez. Do you think this is a good idea?

Minnesota has one of the worst gaps between population growth and spending in the last decade. Population grew 6%. State spending grew 48%, inflation adjusted. Again - where did all the money go?

States with the smallest gap between population growth and spending in the last decade? Texas. Population grew by 15%. State spending shrunk by 4%, inflation adjusted. What can other states learn from this?

House Democrats are trying to raise taxes again - this time by taxing unrealized gains and imposing an annual tax on Minnesotans’ net worth, not just their income.

Bezos had the vision, took the risk, and built Amazon from nothing. Since founding, Amazon has employed roughly 11.5 million worker-years globally, paid about $47.7 billion in disclosed cash income taxes since 2002 alone, and its U.S. workforce has likely generated another roughly $35–45 billion in federal income and payroll taxes. That’s before counting the value created for 200M+ Prime members and 300M+ active customers worldwide whose quality of life has been vastly improved by Amazon. And you, in your infinite wisdom, want to financially punish the creator of Amazon?
Elizabeth Warren@SenWarren

Jeff Bezos has $222 billion. If he paid my wealth tax this year, we could fund insulin in America for everyone who needs it plus free school lunch for every kid in Texas—and have plenty of money left over. And Bezos would still have $215 billion dollars to spare.

@Stone_Tao If you know what you are building and the overall software architecture of what you are building it is much easier. "Vibe" coders who have never built a damn thing in their life but now depend on AI are going to struggle without foundational software engineering experience.

Subs are for normal chatting and Anthropic’s own tools, not nonstop agent loops that eat tokens like crazy. It’s like an all-you-can-eat buffet: if one guy camps out for days, everyone else suffers. Boot the heavy users or make them pay by the plate. Power users should either step up to metered pricing or just buy hardware and run local models 24/7. Cloud convenience has limits. Makes sense to me.

Feels like Anthropic is playing this too short term tbh. doing this now does not magically convert openclaw users into claude customers open source always finds a way🦞
Peter Steinberger 🦞@steipete

woke up and my mentions are full of these Both me and @davemorin tried to talk sense into Anthropic, best we managed was delaying this for a week. Funny how timings match up, first they copy some popular features into their closed harness, then they lock out open source.

@IlyanovVladimir @marinatedvapor @bigben7182000 @steipete Exactly. People are crying but this is the standard across ALL industry players. They aren't "blocking" access, people just need to use the correct door. In fact, I'd say Anthropic has been more lenient than most.

@zackstephenson You look like the only thing you're standing with is a 1.75 of Captain Morgan. Can't wait to get home and "protect" that bottle after today's theater. Real kid safety? Your caucus voted no on that.

Yesterday, we pushed to advance bills to protect Minnesotans. Every Democrat voted in favor of moving these bills forward, and every Republican voted against them. Now the public knows whether their representative stands with kids or with ICE and the gun lobby.

@zackstephenson Oh, the shocking sadness of it all! If you ran a real business the way you and your DFL crew run school budgets, you'd be filing for bankruptcy while tweeting about how "the system" failed your employees. Anoka-Hennepin is axing ~75 positions, including 26 social workers and 6 counselors, after burning through one-time COVID cash, thanks to declining enrollment, inflation, and all those shiny unfunded mandates your party loves piling on (paid leave, etc.). Zero private-sector experience, yet you're outraged at the predictable math. Mental health is "critical"... until it's time to live within actual means instead of demanding more taxpayer bailouts for the same broken model. Brilliant leadership, Rep. "Fix the system"... just not the one you helped break.
