Kazakhstan Is More Than Borat. For many Americans, their only exposure to Kazakhstan is the movie Borat. I'll admit that's how I first heard of the country back in 2006. I understand it's a comedy, and the joke was never really about Kazakhstan. The film was a satire of American ignorance. Unfortunately, some people missed the joke and came away thinking that Kazakhstan is really like that. After spending two weeks in Kazakhstan, I can say that Kazakhstan is more modern and developed than most Americans expect. It's very nice.

I'm an American, and I spent two weeks in Kazakhstan. Here are my thoughts:
