This is 100% true & should have been obvious, were we not living in upside down insane times. The director should be (and traditionally has been) the sole coordinator of intimacy between actors. The buck stops there, for better or worse.

@AVARY Imagine thinking a level of HR should be inserted between the director and the actors in the most sensitive scenes.

@AVARY Exactly. There should be no middle man between a director and his actors. Actors are supposed to trust their director in all matters related to a film, including intimate scenes. They're all adults and can talk things out as needed. No third parties need get involved.

@AVARY i bet that would be the defense of the nyu film student in a modern day rules of attraction- “i was in that room as an intimacy coordinator between the townie and lauren!”

@AVARY Also it seems (I think it was Heather Graham who talked about it) that some intimacy coordinators even overstep their duties and give directions to the actors for their intimate scenes.

@AVARY Not really, then you end up with Quentin actually choking a woman for a shot in a film. Intimacy coordinator should be like "no quentin, I know you hate bad strangles in films, but this is creepy"

@AVARY This is a great concept for a “Death Proof” spiritual sequel. An intimacy coordinator who IS the creep. Would be even better in giallo stylings.

@AVARY It's just a grift. How can we make money whilst adding absolutely nothing to the film. Coordinators for culture, religion and all sorts of crap. No wonder films feel like conveyer belt shite now. Wonder how much the budgets would be effected by getting rid of all these pricks.
