Even when you consider that an unknown number of people were also watching on Apple TV, I imagine the league was hoping for a bit more here.

@AlexMSilverman When you have the option to watch in 1080p 60fps that looks like 4k you're going to pick that over 720p. Most 👀 on Apple. Judging from data since the Apple Deal Fox pulls 25 to 35%of audience vs Apple TV ex. MLS Cup 4.6m Apple TV etc platforms 3.6m vs FOX 1m.

@AlexMSilverman Given that MLS draws about 500,000 viewers per game on Apple TV, those numbers likely represent at least a million viewers each. Friday night is historically bad for TV viewership as well. These same games on a Sunday night this time of year would get you 1.5m or more.

@AlexMSilverman A pathetic number on Fox no other way to look at it. Casual fans are not signing up for Apple TV to watch MLS. A very assessment. Whatever numbers MLS is doing on Apple big whopper. Apple TV is a niche streaming service. MLS has lost Casual fan interest by being on Apple TV.

@AlexMSilverman I watched how many hours of World Cup and had literally no idea Fox carried MLS until today. Someone between the two organizations should be ashamed of themselves.

@AlexMSilverman Disagreed with your original framing if you remembered thought it was setting it up for failure hyping up a potential audience 75% of the available MLS audience watches on Apple TV we have 4 yrs of evidence on that. FOX only had 1m for MLS Cup but most of 4.6m watched on Apple TV

@AlexMSilverman I watched Galaxy-LAFC a bit and know how rare MLS games are outside of Apple TV. That’s about as much as I watched before the World Cup this season (and I have Apple TV+.)
