Why I think Bittensor - $TAO, really is something special.
I normally never write tweets like this as I quite frankly don't care about the engagement or shilling stuff I'm involved with.
I am doing this because I'm THAT excited about what Bittensor is looking solve and I want to help inspire developers to starting building on top of this.
The more I read about AI, the more I want to learn and consume. I'm a big fan of Ray Kurzweils vision of the future, but I didn't expect it to come so soon.
We all know AI has the possibility to change everybody's lives... From your friends and family alive and kicking right now to the generations after us.
This is such an incredibly exciting time to be alive. And I don't mean that by the financial AI bubble that people might see play out in the short term.
AI literally has the power to change every aspect of life. The rate of acceleration won't stop.
I think this is more impactful than the introduction of printed press or even the internet... What's so fascinating is that you can already see start of the convergence of all these amazing upcoming technologies.
I'm confident that we will see this revolutionize industries beyond our wildest imaginations. Pick any niche and look for the convergent tech that's being built right now.
As @StabilityAI founder Emad Mostaque stated in his recent interview in 20VC:
'I'm open sourcing everything now. From next week we're going to build our language models in the open and share what works and what doesn't work. Because I think that's part of the shared narrative. Someone needs to be open and show what's going on under the hood and again it should be open by default. The value is not in any proprietary models or data.'
He believes in creating custom models for specific companies to help companies and governments around the world.
Just like him I strongly believe that the future of intelligence should be open source, democratized and belong to the people. Let’s not make the same mistakes again that were made with big tech and the GDPR. Giving too much power to a select few.
This is why Sam Altman's recent stance on all of this doesn't sit right with me. His end goal is to solve world poverty through the means of AGI. But does that mean that OpenAIs models should stay closed-source? How can we trust, but not verify?
The way I see it... $TAO is aiming to solve this problem, by incentivizing the commoditization of Artificial Intelligence just like $ETH is the commoditization of decentralized (trustless) computational power.
Powered by the same powerful incentive mechanisms that created these behemoths of decentralized distributed compute: $BTC and $ETH
Both of which are 500 times bigger than all of Googles data centers combined... Let that sink in.
The great part about these commodities is that it's all out there for the public to see and verify. If lawmakers or corporates would try and shut these down, they simply can't because they operate globally and are sufficiently decentralized.
Where as of right now Sam has the possibility to exclude you, your business or country in the click of a button. That doesn't seem fair to me. Especially with his end goal in mind.
Here's what Bittensor aims to solve when it comes to AI:
1.
Multimodality where there is multiple sources or types of data to create more accurate determinations or conclusions
2.
The power of distillation by using the power of larger language models like GPT-4 to improve upon smaller LLMs
3.
Incentive mechanisms that incentivize participants to contribute to the network, in the case of Bittensor to improve upon these LLMs where the most valuable contributions will get rewarded
4.
Censorship resistance meaning that anyone can participate and no internal or external party can shut you down
5.
Democratized alignment in the network by participants. These participants could even include OpenAI, Google or Stability AI or Meta.
6.
Ability to agnostically absorb all AI technologies while being governed by it's users
7.
While staying unbiased
8.
Just like BTC and ETH the way this is set up allows for scalability way beyond what any company could achieve
I hope you are enjoying this so far. I'm almost done, stay with me...
Some of the biggest legends that I respect in crypto are all following this on the sidelines or are already involved.
I have also created a following analysis of @Opentensor's followers on Twitter and found who I believe are very respectable founders, VCs, AI and ML researchers that are currently doing their research on Bittensor.
Reading the whitepaper and watching the interviews made me ecstatic. It just clicked with me.
A feeling I haven't had since falling in love with the premise of both ETH and BTC.
And what's so cool about all of this, is that all of this feels like we’re still so early.
Most people are currently in the discovery phase of understanding how these LLMs actually work and the potential problems they can solve.
If you made it this far, I suggest you dive into their Github, or the Discord to ask questions.
And start building.
Axilo, out.
