A colorful, swirling low off the U.S. West Coast is this week’s #TimelapseTuesday highlight! This 9-second loop from @NOAA’s #GOESWest (#GOES18) 🛰️ captures the system approaching the U.S. over the past 48 hours, prompting #WinterStorm and #HighWind warnings across parts of the West today.

Wind gusts of more than 50 mph kicked up a #DustStorm across the Southwest on April 26, 2026. @NOAA’s GOES East (#GOES19) 🛰️ tracked the dust as it reduced visibilities across parts of New Mexico and Texas. These events pose hazards to #AirQuality and #Transportation, making timely detection and accurate forecasting critical. NESDIS’ Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) uses geostationary #satellite imagery to study blowing dust and improve hazard forecasts. Learn more: bit.ly/41ZZqry
