@CodeRed_dev Some can, most can’t. However there’s something to be said about people who immerse themselves in the actual design of games and see why things work and don’t work, outside just mindlessly playing games. Observation is key.
English

@CodeRed_dev It doesn't, but I feel like prior gaming experience helps you a lot tbh.
English

@CodeRed_dev No, but first you play games a lot, then you make games a lot! And maybe something happens :D
English

@CodeRed_dev but, does a game Dev need to play alot to become a good Dev
English

@CodeRed_dev So true! Last time I’ve touched my old sim racing wheel was a year ago. From racing pretty much every day… but c’mon the journey is harder but so satisfying! I’ll finish my first big one soon!
English

@CodeRed_dev I defiantly can add that so can playing no games
cause you do need some inspiration, and they be good for if your trying to reference mechanics your trying to make.
English

@CodeRed_dev I always assumed it was like climbing a mound of sand that someone keeps topping up. Eventually you'll get there if you keep climbing, but it's gonna suck.
English

@CodeRed_dev Depends how you game... Yiu can code inside of lots of games. I have lots of gaming hours modding and scripting 😅
English

@CodeRed_dev Playing a lot of games is what sparked my interest in learning to make them - and now I make them :) I also believe that playing a lot of different games gives you a better perspective with which to make them.
English

@CodeRed_dev currently doing game dev myself, can't give much details and lol. The time I spent researching about "What feels good" in a videogame I should have spent learning math for game dev. My god, my FPS Controller has 24 references to Mathf already, shit feels good but damn

English

@CodeRed_dev In my case, I believe it is more correct to say I cannot seem to develop games because I do not tear myself away from games I am playing often enough to make tangible progress.
Anyone have a name for that condition?
English

@CodeRed_dev True. But the sadder part is the other way around - if you think you'll be able to play games while you're making one, well... 😅
English

@CodeRed_dev This is so true. You'd think having played a lot of games gives you a good idea, but apparently it doesn't teach you jack about game design.
English

@CodeRed_dev Not sure I buy this one, I played wc3 and Minecraft, both had their own development engines in the game
English

@CodeRed_dev The progress I make is slow, but progress is progress.
English

@CodeRed_dev It's always the distribution that brings even talented coders and developers for a spin
English

@CodeRed_dev True, but it does help. If you play a bunch of games, you get to know what makes a good game vs not so good. Plus then you can test your own games to see if they are fun.
English

@CodeRed_dev the coding and art are just really good games that take a lot of skill, best games are challenging so it's a really GG
English

@CodeRed_dev So, you want to make games without having played any to know why they're fun then boy do I have the perfect job application for you
