@CodeRed_dev People shouldn't be afraid of making a game that might have similar ideas to another game, every game out there is derivative in some way. The goal should be to learn from other's mistakes and try to make something even better.
English

@CodeRed_dev this has never happened to me... I don't even care about other games doing something similar to my current project
English

@CodeRed_dev That's why I make smaller games and publish them.
English

@CodeRed_dev Wield the power of story and character and no one will think less of game mechanics they’ve seen before
English

@CodeRed_dev Yeah, every time I think I struck gold I check for other games and yeah there's plenty already out there that have my idea
English

@CodeRed_dev DeSerrate will feature the best modern TBS mechanics.
English

@CodeRed_dev I'd love to see a graphic of the "right" way to go about the process
English

@CodeRed_dev at this point i'm tired of coming up with the perfect game idea because half the time i don't even like it as much as something more standard so now i'm probably just gonna do whatever but even if the game doesn't do well i might have something i actually like... or not..
English

@CodeRed_dev I am in a cycle where I think "oh this idea is better.. I should definitely dump this project and start a new one" 😞
English

@CodeRed_dev A little bit, more so I see the trends on features I’ve been working on being way better than what I have conjured 😅
But—
I’m also trying to break this cycle
English

@CodeRed_dev Hussssh I am still in step 2, don't break my dreams ! 😂
English

@CodeRed_dev Now I use my new ideas as a driving force to finish the old ones, to get me closer to making that new idea.
English

@CodeRed_dev Felt this one! I honestly stopped working on my game several times because of my own insecurities so I spent a lot of time changing up the gameplay up (specifically the movement) and added in a lot of urban street talk to help it stand out.
English

@CodeRed_dev Just broke the cycle enough to make a demo!
English

@CodeRed_dev I'm doing a port, so I get a pass for my massive unoriginality :D
English

@CodeRed_dev @MeryAhumada_Dev I personally get tired very quickly of the indie games that only have one "original idea" to offer and nothing else in terms of gameplay in the long term.
In the other hand I think there are many games that may look similar, belong to a genre...

English

@CodeRed_dev I never learned to code. So I get to step one and stop.
English

@CodeRed_dev I rarely gamedev (I am more support for other peoples work)but when I do I usually finish. So loop broken I guess?
English

@CodeRed_dev It’s like this: great idea->work a month on it-> realize it’s impossible/ not as good as it was in my head or not popular-> abandon game. And it repeats
English

@CodeRed_dev I literally was inspired to gamedev explicitly because I didn't like the way some games applied their mechanics and wanted to do it better.
English

@CodeRed_dev ??? shouldn't that game dev be rejoicing at the new evidence that the idea has a strong likihood of achieving product market fit? That is literally an amazing situation that would make me want to jump and shout in celebration. The average dev is HORRIBLE at buisness...
