@CodeRed_dev Totally agree! However, I’ve stopped looking at the Unreal Marketplace all together because it’s gotten bloated with awful AI icon packs. Everything useful is buried under pages of AI scrap.

@CodeRed_dev Oh, we use a ton of assets. Our writing is unique, our story, our game, the visual representations are just there to entertain the consumer.

@CodeRed_dev I can't. Googling some images, or ripping a sound from youtube for a random side project. Sure.
But my own game wouldn't ever entirely feel mine if I used pre existing assets. A curse more so than blessing. But only my own curse :)

@CodeRed_dev you are not a real dev if you use an Engine, if you are not a real dev if you don't use C++, C, if you don't use Assembly. This can go to an atomic level.

@CodeRed_dev If you have a Kickstarter, hiring an artist for custom assets is a nice funding goal.

@CodeRed_dev That's so true. Just put your own twist to them and try to make the overall game feel good. I always think about the story of early star wars movies and kit bashing. This stuff was just incredible.

@CodeRed_dev It kinda triggers me how people think buying assets for your game is automatically an asset flip.
If we use this logic, then all Fast & Furious movies are "asset flips" as they used already existing cars and never made their own brands.

@CodeRed_dev Depending on how you implement common/free shared assets it will impact the game to such a level that the player won't believe the world you are trying to sell.
The lego bonsai dilemma: Once you see that some of the leaves are frogs you won't see leaves anymore.
